Re: TOBS Sensitive Skin is fine not great.

" it was fine not great" I agree. TOBS is great value for money. There are better. The much maligned AOS (just 'cos it's marketed as a premium product, doesn't mean it's bad value for money) is a better product IMHO. You may just have gotten a "bad tub" of TOBS where the cream ha...

Re: Strongly Scented Products?

Try Eshave almond aftershave balm. The scent would blow the hinges off of a vault door. The wrong product to use of you've got sensitive skin, which is contrary to Forbes which is just a strong yet doesn't irritate me. Just cracked open their Lime cream, to try and get me in a good mood in these dar...

Thanks for the Real World pics. I've been eyeing this for a while, but thought it was smaller than in your photos. Looks like i'll take a chance on one.

Re: not sure

Exactly the same thing happened to me. Tea tree will burn the living daylights out of raw skin. So it was a combination of a dull blade and the Tea Tree. I did exactly the same thing with a Feather blade. If you're using Tea Tree in anything, moisturise afterwards. Hope that helps.

Re: Need avice on lathering Trumpers soap.

Obviously shave soap isn't high on their list of concerns. Two initials and one word ---DR Harris. Absolutely. They're next up, although I may become a Francophile in search of the ever elusive Savon Bon. Indeed I may build upon my I Coloniali experience and try Italy. Lots of research first ...

Re: Need avice on lathering Trumpers soap.

Thanks Matt, As I mentioned above, a super lather with my AOS unscented cream has saved the day (and about 80 euros worth of soap). You live and learn. I am absolutely astounded that an age old house like Trumpers would blow their reputation on an outsourced product. To me, it's a bit like Cartier o...

Re: Need avice on lathering Trumpers soap.

I have found that the soap is very sensitive to hard water. If you have that problem, you can try using distilled water (a pain, I know). Otherwise, there is always the BST. Bummer about the Fitjar soap, the original tallow recipe worked very well for me. This is something I never thought of Chris....

Re: Need avice on lathering Trumpers soap.

As an experiment, try loading a lot more soap on the brush and see what happens. Actually, it makes no difference Gary. No matter what combo of water/soap/air you try (or hard/soft brush for that matter) the lather just disappears in seconds. I have to say it is bizarre. Caveat Emptor. I should hav...

Need avice on lathering Trumpers soap.

I got 4 pucks of Trumpers soap, 2 with box, 2 without, on a deal on Mankind. I normally use creams as I have dry skin. However I love the GFT soap fragrances: Rose, Lime, Coconut and almond. I have trouble lathering this soap compared to my Harris Lavender and TOBS coconut. I get a very thin lather ...

Re: 2nd-generation Tradere safety bar razor

I don't have one. I have two, ha, I bought version one and version two. both these razors changed how I feel about razors. I've used three different models of Merkur's since I began shaving with de razors back in the 70's. started with a slant and then moved to a Futur around 1999 and also a Barber...

eShave Silvertip (finest), any thoughts?

I have been offered an eShave Silvertip for less than half price (45 Euro) and was wondering if anybody has used one. My current rotation is BK8, Vulfix 2234 and the Colonel, with the Commodore and BK4 in reserve. Would there be a place for it in the above lineup? It's a nice piece and i'd love to k...

Re: Comparison of Current Popular Shave Cream

Good post. Over here in Ireland, the price runs as: Trumpers price is twice as high as TOBS T&H is nearly 3 times the price of TOBS. They run (roughly) per bowl: TOBS 10 Euro GFT 18 EURO T&H 24 Euro What's more I prefer TOBS over GFT (TOBS gives me a better shave). I get great synergy from m...

Re: T&H Rose or Penhaligon's Endymion cream?

OleDub, I recently bought Harris rose cream and regret doing so. I wish I had bought T&H rose instead. see the recent thread I started on the subject. Craig Craig, I misread the thread. I only do TOBS, T&H and GFT as creams after many months in the trenches, I haven't found better. In all h...

Re: T&H Rose or Penhaligon's Endymion cream?

Of the three creams; TOB, GFT and T&H, the T&H is the better cream IMHO in terms of getting the best shave. My favourite scents are Coconut, rose and lavender. Of the Rose scents; T&H is my favourite. It's a great shave cream. I Don't know Penhaligon's, but it seems expensive. I may chec...

Lemon and Lime

Kiwi and Lime

I think Mama Bear does some funky lime cocktails. Just got hooked on GFT Limes. Great fragrance, especially for the Summer.
