Take ample time to lather your face well, then take some more time, then a bit more.

Honorable mention tip: Don't split a bottle of wine with your wife, then try to shave her legs. Bad, very bad idea.

Sam- May I suggest you look at the items avaialble at Custom Hide . They offer a variety of classic designs, all of which they will happily customize for your needs. I've been very pleased with the workmanship. Lifetime warranty. I have their Classic Briefcase in brown and it attracted a lot of atte...

Ah ha, not all! I went to my barber Bob, today, who - along with his colleague Arlo, have been cutting hair for 50+ years, each. Save the smell of old cigarettes and lucky tiger, these guys have changed little since 1960, and they both have a waiting list of appointments everyday. When, a couple of ...

Yes, thanks Gary.

I must say, the new offerings MR have really caught my imagination. I think a tubes of Lavender and Lime/Basil are in my future.

The thing I really liked about EB was that he was an excellent character actor. He wasn't a pretty boy. He wasn't all polished, and primped. He looked like a guy you'd work with, talk to at a tavern or flip-off on the freeway. He was such a common, easy going guy that I think people tended to undere...

Czech & Speake Oxford & Cambridge Cologne

All right chaps, I need any available thoughts on Czech & Speake Oxford & Cambridge EDC. I've been wanting some for awhile, but after my wife soundly rejected my much beloved GFT Achoo Violets (what I call Ajaccio Violets), I'm hesitant to buy without vetting the matter thoroughly.

Ah, hair tonic! Next to shaving tackle, these are my favourite. For common, work-a-day, wear, I use a dab o' Brylcreem. (A little dab, as that is enough to do ya.) Good hold, a bit of sheen, cheap. Despite all the God-given gifts I lack (talent, looks, intelligence, money, appeal to human-kind in ge...

I've used alum off and on over the years (and I'd be using it now, had one of my children not dropped it on the floor, turning it to gravel). One thing I noted is that it does not play well with GFT Skin Food, as it seems to make it "curdle" a bit. Unlike most users, I don't rinse it off--...

Thought I'd offer a quick "What-ho!"

Greetings and happy shaves to you all gentlemen! I've been away from the forum for some years (I think I last posted around 2009). Those few who might remember me may recall I purposely disconnected from the Internet at home and it's been rather blissful. However, as my numerous children have aged, ...

I've used Eucris daily for almost four years, but always for its intended purpose of greasing the hair & scalp. Splendid stuff though I'm not sure I'm ready to grease my face, too.

This amuses me. I am a manager with 18 direct reports, and at any given time I can have no more than three people off. I don't mind terribly the folks who request time off 11.5 months in advance, it's the people who pout when I deny their request and there are three people off already, whose names h...

Scott- At last I've found a soulmate. Someone who appreciates how truly awful is the smell of Taylor's Avocado. The tragedy of it is that the stuff shaves so well. If I could disable my olfactory sense for half an hour, I'd use it every day. A great creme indeed, and I shaved with it for a couple o...

I've had experiences in both directions: In the first instance, I got to where I could no longer use TOBS Avocado creme: the smell would remind me of carving pumpkins at Halloween! I have six kids, and each gets their own pumpkin. Because of the risk of the children using knives, I end up gutting an...

I have a 40s Super Speed that I would dearly love to use every day (rather than my Merkur Barberpole or HD) as I love its design and I am an old school kind of guy. They're beautiful razors. However, it simply is not aggressive enough a shaver for me. It never has given me a BBS shave, whatever blad...

I apply the Alum daily after applying a bit of warm water to my face-- generally there a little creme residue remaining-- and then pat dry. I don't rinse it off and have never suffered ill effect.

CADFAEL, A few folks on EBAY restore the phones with modern plug in jacks. Yes, they work very well. The one problem that can happen is if your phone system no longer acceptes pulse dialing, only DTMF tones. Not insurmountable, you can buy a rather clever adapter (as well as old phones) here ... -S...
