Re: Is Coate's still on the horizon?

Gary: Thanks, it's an honor to be here among such knowledgeable gentleman. I was just lucky enough to find the Coate's and took a little risk getting them into the hands of the guys who can enjoy them. I'm also about to truly become the sole source of Coate's once I buy the entire stash soon and hop...

Re: Is Coate's still on the horizon?

Very interesting Robert, but still disappointing about the state of Coate's. I've done a little more digging and found the trademark registry of Coate's in the UK here: http://www.ipo.gov.uk/tmcase/Results/1/UK00002547168 In addition to shaving brushes, it's listed that they produce these other prod...

Re: Pawns stars shamelessy tries to pulloff a DE razor

Funny you guys are talking about this. That advertisment is what made me get into DE shaving. I almost pulled the trigger BUT did a little home work and found some good sites and this Forum and felt it it was not that great a deal in the long run. Learned a lot on here. You get what you pay for-for...

Re: A Big Thanks To Andy

Wow, thanks everyone! I was lucky enough to find the Coate's and I was just really happy to get them out of storage and back into the hands of those that really wanted them. I've learned a lot, traded for lots of cool shaving gear and met lots of nice people. And being able to take a chunk out of th...

I think everyone on here went for the scents other than Tea Tree. If you still haven't gotten any offers I can see what I can do about getting you just a couple tea tree tubes

Re: Vintage Coates Almond Shave Cream

Craig, I'm glad you enjoy them so much and you've been documenting how you've used them because I haven't gotten that kind of feedback from anyone yet! The almond has always had me curious because I knew they weren't as strong as the others but didn't have knowledge of any other almond cream or soap...

Thanks for the response everyone! You guys still want that lavender and I'll try to ship on Friday of Saturday when I get more. Does anyone know why there was a surge of orders last night and this morning after being quiet for a week?

Glad you're getting the hang of it quicker than I did. I'm just now starting to see how amazing wetshaving really is. And your handles--wow! I know plenty of people (myself included) who would love to buy some of those that you're made.

Re: Vintage Coates Almond Shave Cream

My Coates tubes were quite remarkable. I was stunned at how thick the cream seemed to be, but then I capped it off and massaged the tube for a feew moments and was surprised at how creamy the cream became. I first shaved with the Lavender and really liked the volume of lather it made, but was taken...

Re: Is Coate's still on the horizon?

I emailed Red Lion and received this response from Alex Walsh: "Good Morning and thank you for your email to the RedLionFoods website regarding Coates shaving products. Although there is no working link between the two companies, we do in-fact share a director. Coates was purchased just over 12...

Re: Vintage Coates Almond Shave Cream

Sam and Squire: Thanks for the info! You've enlightened me once again: I tried using the putty-like consistency of a capless sandalwood like a soap and it worked like a charm. I also tried out a brick of lavender and it still worked, although not quite as well obviously. Gordon: I got your address a...

Re: Vintage Coates Almond Shave Cream

Nice to see my Coate's are getting generally good reviews. :D I'm also learning a lot about them from Gordon and the other experts on SMF. The caps definitely are a weakness at times, as there are always a few per box that are either firm or completely hardened. Sometimes the cap is torn off the thr...

Re: Is Coate's still on the horizon?

This is all seriously weird and more than a little mysterious. The PO box given for 'Coate's' is in Reading, Berkshire, and the pictures all show the re-designed logo that Robert sold his version under when he owned the name a few years ago. But the images are copywrited 2013. There is an email add...

Teiste, I'm glad you enjoy it! Squire, I gave Lavender another try with a different technique and brush and I am now seeing how awesome the Lavender really is. Really smooth shave! ockhams's razor, very interesting read, I had no idea about the Time's piece either. And that one member saying that $1...

Re: Is Coate's still on the horizon?

Something's going on with the website http://www.coates1847.com . Two weeks ago it didn't exist, and then about 1 week ago it came online and it said Coate's was purchased by an energetic new investor and they were going to reopen the entire product line in late 2013. But today, it replaced that wit...

Sam: I could send you a tube of lime for $4 shipped first-class if you'd like to try it out. It seems awesome to me but I haven't used any other lime creams. F.W. Fitch: I'm still unsure if I like the no fees from the paypal gift option or the convenience of the shipping integration with the merchan...
