Re: Safety razor of the Day DE or SE

A Schick Injector circa 1946 - 1955 with Schick Chromium blades, Cella soap & badger hair brush, a splash of Witch Hazel followed by Nivea Revitalizing Double Action Balm. A nice smooth irritation free shave, almost as good as I get with a str8.

Re: Floppy Disk Drive

Good question jww. Not a bad idea but I guess because no more often than I need to access the info on these disks its much easier and a lot less time consuming to simply plug in the external USB floppy drive than to transfer info from 100 (+/-) floppy disks, some of this stuff is 20 years old. I do ...

Re: Floppy Disk Drive

I have few stashed away in a box under a computer desk. If you pay shipping I'll send you a couple so you will have a backup just in case. I will test first before shipping. I too have some very useful info on those 3 1/2" floppies that I need to keep. I have an external USB floppy drive I use ...

Re: my 'superlather'...

Yea! Love Coate's Cream. I have 2 tubes each of Lime, Sandlewood and Tea Tree. This stuff makes some really fantastic creamy rich lather with very little work. Reacts very well in a warmed up scuttle. I haven't tried mixing it with anything yet, I guess its because it works so well by itself. Going ...

Re: Is there a brush that does not shed?

I have a Whipped Dog Silver Tip badger that has only shed a few hairs in two years. I have another cheaper badger, not sure what brand, that has only shed a few in five years. Before that I had two different VDH boar hair brushes, one tan handle and one dark green handle. The dark green handled one ...

Re: Security issue - just be aware

If I receive a Spam phone call while in the shop working it ticks me off to have to stop to answer the phone. Sooo, I put the phone up next to my hand held belt sander and let them listen to its high pitched scream.................

Re: Security issue - just be aware

My mother-in-law got a phone call the other day informing her that her computer was being attacked by a virus. Really! She 93 years old and doesn't even own a computer. I guess someone just dialed the wrong number......Yea, right!!

Re: Which straight razor did you use today?

Yep! Bone scales. I also have a Frederick Reynolds wedge in bone and a hollow ground W&B in bone. There is a more nostalgic feeling with bone that there is with anything else........

Re: Hess Forty-Four

Here are the requested pics. When I bought this Hess #1 a couple years ago it had a slight frown so I sent it to Lynn for honing. At the time my 'frown removal' kills were sub standard so I figured I'd let a pro handle it. Hess are sweet shaving razors. I did manage to pick up another one a few mont...

Re: Hess Forty-Four

Congrats! That is a beautiful razor and I know Hess are great shavers. I screwed up a couple years ago by selling a Hess #1, that was before I knew what the were. It wasn't shaving like I thought it should due to my insufficient honing skills at the time. I managed to get my hands on another Hess #1...

So, how does she shave? I like the little wheel adjustment thingy to adjust to regular or close shave. Hmmm! Wonder if they still make them........
