Re: gillette takes a hit

No sympathy here -- not so long as my supply of vintage Gillette razors are still serviceable.

Re: What are you reading?

I am back into some WWII history. This time it's William Craig's "Enemy at the Gate" - the story of the battle for Stalingrad. What an excellent tale. It is a bit on the gruesome side of things, but the story has to be told. Unbelievable that first off the Russians were successful in holding off the...

Re: Older guys and mild razors

Been using the same setting on my Fatboy for too many years to recount here. Notwithstanding, at 60 yrs old, I don't fine my preferences any different than I did at 40. I'm a dedicated Gillette Silver Blue and Polsilver blade man and have been for at least 4 or 5 years.

Re: What are you reading?

Decided to take on Adam Nicolson's Sea Room for the third or perhaps even fourth time. It's a great read, and one that I always enjoy. Nicolson has an interesting writing style, all of his own, and I find myself often pulled into his narrative. I only have 20 or so pages to go to the end ... but lov...

Re: A question for Johnny Cash

Not a bit! One of his best. If I may share an anecdote. There was a time (how many decades ago?) when Mr. Cash was driving on old Rt. 66 that runs right through our town. It seems his driving caught the attention of the night shift local small town law enforcement and he was pulled over and arreste...

The fun part for me was explaining to all my hockey fan co-workers and acquaintances the difference between block-charge. One guy even commented that he thought basketball was a non-contact sport. He was wrong ......

Spent ours watching a local Can-Am league baseball game with our daughter and her family of boys. Fun ended with a BBQ - what else?

Re: Amazing NBA finals game

A bit of a conundrum for me. I dislike the Warriors and in particular whiny Durant, but after the way Kawhi left the Spurs, I have a hard time rooting for him. ... Funny how we don't bat an eye when someone leaves an employer after what felt like devoted service -- we just move on. But when someone...

Re: Do I need a boar brush?

On a very sad-for-me day a few months ago, my "well-loved" Semogue 1305 literally fell apart. The knot fell into several pieces and became fodder for the trash bin. This is the second boar that died after about a decade of devoted service. I have yet to replace it as it's a bit like loosing the fami...

Re: Amazing NBA finals game

Raptors win Game 1 against GSW? Who'd have thought? I didn't watch, but by the writeups I went through, Kahwi distributed but it was Pascal Siakam who brought game and then some. The best way for the Raptors to win will be for someone other than Leonard to show up each night from now until the end. ...

Re: Amazing NBA finals game

I was totally shocked to see the Raptors win in 4 straight games after going down 2-0 to the Bucks. Kawhi Leonard is simply amazing and makes everyone around him so much better when he's on the floor.

Next round, hopefully, will not be a simple rout - here's hoping it goes 6 or 7.

Re: Bluetooth speaker for a beach vacation

The UE boom is very, verry good and gets very, very loud so should work well out of doors.

Have you considered a Bose Soundlink Colour? Water resistant and pretty decent volume. Not as loud as the UE though.

Re: Amazing NBA finals game

Ja's tock sky-rocketed after the NCAAs. He was outstanding all year, but the showcase of so many games in such a short time showed how good he really is. Zion -- well, he's still, in my mind, not necessarily "The Next Big Thing". I'll wait to see how he does against the men. Don't get me wrong - he ...
