Cook up a batch, Gary. You’ll enjoy it. I’ll bet the ingredients are readily available in OK City.😀

Re: A Cook's Diary

I came across a website that has a pretty good explanation with pictures of how to make a roux for gumbo. Also, she has two gumbo recipes, one of which is vegetarian. Go to gimmesomeoven.com and search for “gumbo” .

Re: A Cook's Diary

I feel that I should mention that making the roux can be a dangerous proposition. It requires complete attention. Keep kids and pets away from the stove. They call it “Cajun napalm”. 😊 Just be careful.

Re: A Cook's Diary

My wife’s late aunt lived in Lake Charles, Louisiana. She was a skilled Cajun cook and taught me several of her recipes. Yesterday, I made a pot of her chicken and sausage gumbo. First, dice an onion, a green bell pepper and three stalks of celery ( the “trinity” of Cajun cooking.) Place all the veg...

Re: What's for supper?

Here is a three ingredient recipe for tomato basil soup.

1 jar tomato basil pasta sauce ( we like Paul Neumann brand)
1 jar light alfredo sauce ( Ragu brand works well)
1 can low sodium chicken broth

Heat to just below boiling.
This is great with grilled cheese sandwiches. We have this often.

Boellis Panama 1924

I have had my eye on this soap for a long time. The price has always deterred me from trying it. Well, the combination of boredom from sitting at home and a 15% sale from one of the vendors finally led me to order it. It worked out to be about $40 plus shipping. I have had two shaves with it now so ...

Re: Kai Original Captain blade

Could the Schick and the Kai be the same blades? If I remember right, the Kai DE blades have no markings, so maybe they contract out all their blades. I don’t know the answer to your question but I can say from experience the two blades perform differently for me. I use the Kai Captain Original fre...
