Krista-Mae my thoughts and prayers go out to you and your entire family. I go back away on these forums with your dad and have always enjoyed his postings and musings, he will be sorely missed.

His picture will always hang on the wall of the "Bat Cave" (the mods forum).

One of the vices I picked up by hanging around here is the collecting of old/antique razor blade sharpeners. I have many different kinds and have tried most of them just for the hell of it. I have yet to notice much difference between the pre and post sharpness. Many of these were the stuff that wou...

I got turned onto top shelf creams when, I beleive it was Gordon, suggested that I give the Coates shaving creams a try. We have to keep in mind that I am talking about their older original formulation which in my mind was the the very pinnacle of creams. I have been using creams since that point ab...

As Gordon pointed out face to face purchases are not possible for most of us, myself included. I am in a situation that forces me to do all of purchasing via the internet and I try to support the vendors that participate or advertise on our forum.

Good luck in your search.

David my olfactory skills are rather limited when it comes to describing scents. My favorite cologne is Taylor's Sandalwood and yet I am able to enjoy the Vulfix Sandalwood cream which isn't even close. I would say that the Derby Lemon cream smells somewhat like a bottle of Real Lemon while the Tayl...

Derby Creams

Due to a mix up on my last order for Derby blades and some Derby Lemon cream I was comped a tube each of their Lavender and Menthol creams. I have been a fan of their lemon for some time now and I am becoming a fan of their line of creams in general. I don't know whether it is my softened, de-minera...

I ride my bike all of the time for exercise, recreation and errands. When running errands I just grab a light weight backpack that way I am not lugging around extra weight the rest of the time.

By using decent shoe trees and rotating your footwear you will receive many years of use from a good pair of shoes. I have a couple pair of Allen Edmonds that are a good twenty years old and still appear as if new. Granted, they have been re-soled and healed but that is cheap when compared to replac...

Gordon, you've got me wondering now as to what scent my grandfather may have used as Sandalwood is what brings back the memories. From the late 1890's up until his death in 1952 (yes, I am an old man) he owned a drug store and was its pharmacist. As I recall he used Coates, do you know if they had t...

I have always kept mine in a drawer with no adverse effect. Some, as the supply diminished in the bowl, dried out a bit and when this happens I just use it a as soap bowl and mix right in the pot. I have some treasured Coates shaving creams (old formulations) that are five years old and still usable...

I have found, that Personna quality is less consistent then the Derby Extras -- which will reliably provide me with 3 or 4 shaves per blade. Personnas, on the other hand, may give me 5 or 6 shaves, or 1 bad shave. More and more I find the quality of the Personnas hit-and-miss, that's all. I find th...

I also voted "No". With the the exception of AOS Sandalwood shaving cream and some Yardley bath soaps, I generally stay away from this scent category. Too grandpa-ish. Ren Ren, that is probably why Sandalwood is one of my favorites. Each time I use it I can picture my maternal grand fathe...

When you say "short handle" are you referring to the travel sized Tech with the handle that is around 1 1/2" long or the "regular" sized gold handle?

Those two heads are the same I believe.

Wendell's info mirrors what I have observed with the Techs (14) I have.
