Re: Fountain Pens
I am officially done collecting fountain pens now that I have found my holy grail. My grandfather carried a tan colored Parker 51 on 27 missions in a B-29 bomber in WWII. He carried it until he died, and I have it safely stored away because I am afraid of losing it. Well, I found the same pen, never...

Re: Halfeti EdT by Penhaligons
I wear it pretty regularly, but only in colder weather. Heavy tobacco and leather, and it definitely is not subtle. Very easy to overdo it in the morning. Definitely not a summer scent but one of my faves.

Re: Titanic
Well, I really don’t know if these are replicas of what might have been on the Titanic. I do know that some of the stuff sold in the gift shop are replications of the actual artifacts. I am sharing this picture only because I thought it was a fun, shaving-related image with a bit of history thrown i...

Titanic
My daughter and I made a stop at the Titanic exhibit in Las Vegas. I highly recommend it if you find yourself with a bit of time on your hands. I picked up a few souvenirs and thought you fellows might appreciate this photo.

A Summer of Queen
Fellows, This is meant as a celebratory post, so I hope you will indulge. In 1980, when I was 15, my mom took me to see Queen in Chicago. She died a few short years later, and that is one of my cherished memories. This past fall, my wife died of Alzheimer's. A few weeks ago, my 15-year-old daughter ...

Your best concert experience
All, I am looking back on some of the best concerts I've seen over the last few decades. Last month I saw Jason Bonham's Led Zeppelin Experience, an excellent tribute to Zeppelin and Bonzo. So what are your concert memories? I saw Queen twice with Freddie Mercury and twice with Adam Lambert. Incredi...

Penhaligon's at Walmart.com
All:
I did a double take when I came across it, but genuine Penhaligon's can be found at walmart.com (online only as far as I can tell.) There are samplers, 1.7 oz bottles, 3.4oz bottles and other products at pretty reasonable prices. Just go to the site and search Penhaligon.

Re: Penultimate
If you really want to get wordy (or nerdy) a professor in our English department once mentioned that we were in the antepenultimate faculty meeting of the year. That's a word that you probably won't hear even if it is the antepenultimate game of the football season. Even spellcheck doesn't like it. jt

Re: French Open Tennis
I played and coached for about twenty years but gave it up because of shoulder and knee problems. But I have not lost my interest in the game. I always enjoyed watching smaller tournaments in person, such as the Volvo in Chicago (which disappeared in the early 90's.) Even watching the early rounds o...

Favorite hotel
All: I used to travel quite a bit for work and became very accustomed to business travel accommodations. But now I am enjoying weekends in . . . getaway hotels, for lack of a better term. I recently spent a three-day weekend at the Broadmoore in Colorado Spgs. First rate accommodations and service. ...

Re: Any fountain pen users here?
I am a Parker 51 enthusiast. I have my grandfather's 51 that he carried on a B-29 bomber in WWII. I purchased the limited edition 51 a decade or so ago, but it was recently stolen. I have decided to purchase a refurbished 1945 Parker 51 to replace it.

Gotta vent
It's been a while, fellows. My wife is in late Alzheimer's. (And thanks for the notes!) Anyway, I just wanted to share a bit of piling on. Kathy bought me a beautiful briefcase when I finished grad school. And then she gave me a lovely Parker fountain pen when I was promoted to associate professor. ...
