Re: Unexpected 2nd head shave A-Ok

The headshave is a difficult one, so congrats on making it work. I have found that slicker lathers are better for the head, though a little cushion is nice, and you definitely have to learn to hold the razor in some interesting grips to get the blade where you need it. And then there's the larger ar...

Re: 10 years

I just recently started poking around here again after about 3 years. Busiest, most stressful 3 years of my life. At any rate, realized that 10 years was March 30th for me.

Honestly, Sigma still makes some great stuff if you don't need a full-color display with gps maps. I have the 1609 wireless and it was easy to set up and works well. Nice features with a few extras that others in the price range don't have, like led back-lighting and being generally weatherproof. I ...

I received some Art of Shaving unscented aftershave moisturizer. Pretty nice feeling. Got a lot of tea stuff this year. Funny how gifts seem to cycle.

The impression I get from the first post is that shaving is happening once a week. Is this a process of trimming down some longer stubble, then shaving, or am I misreading this and you're actually shaving daily? I also suffer from razor bumps/ingrown hairs. So, if it's once per week, I would suggest...

That's brilliant. Love it for something like Bay Rum. I may have to order some just to have that sitting on my shelf for the awesome visual appeal.

Just finished Wheel of the Infinite by Martha Wells. Love how good she is at creating unique fantasy settings and fully rooting her characters in them.

Just started Octavia Butler's Xenogenesis Trilogy.

If I could conveniently shave in the shower with a DE, I'd be all over it. I'd never need to worry about skin drying out. As it is, I usually only rinse if it feels like my skin is drying out. Otherwise, I like the residue of the lather for continuing to provide lubrication.

thanks for the positive responses. This has always been a great forum with positive people and it's funny seeing how many names are still the same. Rare to see that kind of consistency over years.

Another returning fan

Has been many years now since I've regularly visited SMF and I'm glad to see that it seems to be moving along as well as ever. I had to prioritize time related to things like grad school, jobs, and their related internet use and this meant moving away from much in the way of active forum participati...

Oregon Wild Hair Mustache Wax is excellent. I've used it to wax mustaches, both for curling and general grooming, and it works really well. I've also never experienced it melting out while drinking hot drinks and it lasts really well in general. It's only color is the natural color of the wax, so it...

Gordon, good to hear from a counselor with years of experience. What you say is the gist of what I hear, and part of why I'm more excited than nervous about starting. I know I have as much training as I can get, so I don't feel too nervous about it. That comment about sitting still would make a wond...

much agree that shaving the head is very different from face shaving. For myself, I find the headblade easy and quick for an excellent shave. I use the sport version with the twin-blade sensor excel cartridges (or similar off-brand). They have a few types of headblade and there are about 4 or 5 diff...

Blackberry is falling behind the tech curve in regard to their most current operating systems. However, if she's familiar with it and likes it, they're still solid devices. iPhone is what it is and the recent firmware update finally makes it capable of multi-tasking, a big plus. Drawbacks to the iPh...

I agree with learning a growth pattern map for your face. A day or two after shaving, I'm sure you rub your face and know what direction feels particularly rough and course. That direction, in any given location, is against the grain. Unfortunately, this changes depending on the location and creatin...

Definitely a requirement of the course. They can't do much more than role play exercises in the classroom, which are only useful to a point. So actual counseling is learned during an internship involving jumping right in with real clients.

Counseling Internship

Just wanted to throw this out there 'cause I'm way excited about it. I just got offered an internship for my MA in Counseling program. That means, starting in the next few months sometime, I'll start seeing real clients on a regular basis. Unpaid, of course, but working with a wide variety of people...
