Re: BIC 1 Sensitive single blade disposables

I remember that John McEnroe, in his tennis glory days, used to advertise for the "regular" Bic disposables (white handle), and some other player was the "sensitive" Bic user (orange handle). I could never get the sensitives to shave close, and preferred the regular version (whic...

Re: blades only!

Years and years ago, I preferred Barbasol with single-blade Bics (with the white handle) and Edge gel with twin-blade Schicks (blue handle with the integrated, sliding blade guard). Atra cartridges came with and without the lubricating strips, and I frankly don't really remember what I used with eit...

Re: Greetings from México.

Adrian, I settled long ago on primarily using Feather blades in Dad's old 1960s Schick Krona. Recently, Grandfather's 1955 Super Speed Red Tip, long considered lost, turned up. Feathers are a bit much in this razor. So, like you, I'm doing blade trials, which takes some discipline. I've been trying ...

Re: Why Synthetic?

When I'm (quite often) feeling heretical enough to use Barbasol, yet too sophisticated to hand smear, my Fine Angel Hair Synthetic is perfect. Scritchy and Barbasol aren't right together.

Otherwise, it's a badger brush with Taylor Almond, 'cause that's just the way it should be. :D

Re: My second DE shave...

Great! Always nice not to reinact Scorsese's horror short film, The Big Shave. :D

What blade did you use? (If you mentioned that before, sorry I missed it.) Gotta ask, even though blades are like barbecue sauce and violin rosin, everybody's got their favorite!

WWI Army Gillettes

My grandfather served during the First World War, guarding captured Germans in Le Havre, France. That placed him among the early safety shavers, of course, and I have some questions. Grandmother kept much of his shaving gear (mostly now lost), which I saw many years ago. I remember an open-comb, thr...

Re: New to the forum as well...

Hi Tom, I'm also new to this forum. I'd like to give you some encouragement while introducing myself a bit. After starting with Bics about 1980, I endured electric misery (thinking a shaver would be more convenient for college), then decided to try what I considered a "proper" razor, a saf...
