Re: Moustache Wax

Two more tips for the care and feeding of a handlebar. Avoid trimming it in the middle. To keep it from hanging over your lips, comb it to the sides, don't cut it short in the middle. Don't attempt to extend it artificially by allowing hairs to grow from beyond the width of your lips by more than a ...

When I had a handlebar with an 8" wingspan and I wanted an English-style handlebar (straight out to the side, no curl) I used this stuff: https://storage.googleapis.com/images-sof-prd-9fa6b8b.sof.prd.v8.commerce.mi9cloud.com/product-images/detail/00052336331457.jpg göt2be glued spiking glue . S...

Back in The Olden Days, when I used disposables, it would be in the shower.

Now it's always immediately after the shower, every evening around 8-9 PM.

Re: Where is Everybody?!

Sorry for my recent absence. We moved house, which was a nightmare. I can sympathize. My two sons have both recently moved back in with us. It's almost as bad as moving ourselves. I hired two 20 cu.yd. dumpsters and managed to fill them, but was fought every step by those who refuse to throw anythi...

Re: Acquisitions thread - xXx

Oops. I don't have a proper unboxing photo, so I'll used this SOTD photo from a few days ago. RazoRock xXx soap and aftershave. This is one of the very rare times I'd bought an aftershave without having smelled it first, and only went by the listed fragrance notes on the Italian Barber site. I'm qui...

Re: Finding our best shaving tools

And of course, things change over time. I had pretty much settled on a few razors, brushes, and even fewer brands of blades. (Astra SP, Shaverboy). I'd like to have a bigger variety of soaps and aftershaves, but not being able to smell them first kinda' puts the brakes on that. However, I bought a H...

Re: Has it happened to you too?

I used to hyper-mile my blades to 30, 60, or even 100 uses, but now I just toss them at 20, which is the max you can count on a D-20 D&D die. https://emojis.slackmojis.com/emojis/images/1585778227/8431/d20-20.gif?1585778227 Now I'm down to using a D-12. On the other hand, with the recent acquis...

Re: Safety Razor of the Day

John, that's a beauty. It is the same design as a similar razor that was (is?) sold by Phoenix a while back. I still have mine somewhere, and I am reminded of the results you describe. Feels mild, but provides a very close shave. Thanks for posting this! I've never seen the PAA DOC in real life, so...

I am also expecting sooner or later someone in corridors of power will tell me what I have been doing so far, that I got it all wrong. :D Do not worry. There is no "power" here. Just opinions and preferences. For example, many say "Let the weight of the razor do the work". I say...

[snip] The plumbing was yanked out—literally yanked, by a physician from Croatia, who said Slavically, "Is troublemaker. Is stuck. Will come though." And so it did, though not before he had lifted me bodily off the bed by the tube. Very nice man. [snip] :-k Didn't that leave a hole in you...

What's yours experience with that stick, John? I got one exactly like that several years ago (in Toronto actually), and after about a month or so I had to give it up and stop using it as a deodorant applicator. I have never used it as a deodorant, only for post-shave. I'm still using that same stic...
