Re: Your Favorite DE Blade Currently Available

Gillette Silver Blue
7 o'clock Green

I've been getting these blades from amazon but spouse is going to cancel all my bank cards unless I agree to enter therapy for RAD.

Re: Revisiting Derby Extra Blades

I will give it another try with a different razor. Five derby blades came with my recent purchase of the EJDE89L, and I found the first one of these blades too rough for me. Still have four left, so we'll see. Thanks for the tip.

Re: gillette silver blue blades

After trying a Silver Blue with a Progress, I went on to try the 7 'clock green, Gillette Platinum and Astra SP blades. I found the GP too dull for me (nearly as dull as the Derby), and it was discarded after two shaves. The 7 o'clock green and the Astra SP were both tried for four two-pass shaves, ...

Re: Hi from a new member

Well, I might have to look for a thread about what I see is known as Razor Acquisition Disorder (RAD). Back in the day when I began as a DE shaver, there was nothing remotely like access to what is now available on the internet--a person pretty much was limited to the Gillette razors sold at the cor...

Re: Hi from a new member

Thanks to all for the welcome. I'm learning a lot from reading the many informative threads on the forum. Only wish I had never given up on DE shaving all those years ago, but all the needed supplies just dried up in retail stores. Happy to see the resurgence in DE shaving, and I'm amazed at what ha...

Re: Hi from a new member

Sure thing on getting a good cream or soap. I will order up the green Proraso cream and maybe (just maybe) get one of the Omega synthetic brushes. This shaving thing is like my experience when I got into fishing some years ago, but it's okay. Wanting a fancy baitcast rod or reel (I kept wanting one ...

Re: Hi from a new member

That's right, Sam. Along with the Progress I bought the inexpensive Escali badger brush. It is okay, but already I'm thinking about trying one of the synthetic brushes!

Hi from a new member

Hi guys. I'm new here and recently returned to DE shaving. Like many, I was fed up with the ridiculous cost of cartridges--this is pricing power, and it happens when one entity, or corporation, gains control of a market. Two months ago, I became aware of the resurgence of DE shaving, purchased an Ed...

Re: gillette silver blue blades

I recently received a sampler pack of seven different blades. I had been using derby extra's in a new Merkur Progress, and the blade was for me too dull. With the Progress set at 1.5, the first blade of the sampler I tried was the Silver Blue. The result was the smoothest and closest shave I can rec...
