Does that make it an "Old Type"? I know the ABC razors are very collectable. Do they shave as well as a Standard Old Type?

Please forgive the neophyte questions.

A heavier razor is probably your best bet. Try the Merkur 38C barber pole or something similar. The open-comb suggestion is also good, but open combs can be a little tricky; they require careful attention unless you're pretty far along on the learning curve. Same goes for the slant -- it does a goo...

Trumpers Rose Cream - Great scent, decent protection. I only keep a couple of creams and this is one of them. The coloration is a little off-putting but Trumpers gets a pass when it comes to color due to their wonderful scents. AOS Rose Absolut - Didn't like it at all. Smells (to me) like the root b...

Scott, Yep, no avoiding some experimentation I'm afraid. I dunno. The Feather SS IS a superb razor and it's heavy and solid feeling. But, brand new it's pretty pricey. I really can't speak to your specific situation as I shave daily and hence I don't know how a given razor or blade would respond af...

St. John's prices will increase on June 27th, 2011

I received a postcard from St. John's saying their prices will increase on June 27th, 2011 and that all orders received before this date will be shipped at the current prices.

Just a little heads up.

Don't know about the skipping, but I used to love the DE89L, I called it the RAD killer. Until I tried the Feather AS that is. Feather AS + Feather blade is the best combo for my face. The Feather AS is gorgeous and has been around long enough for people to develop a long-term opinion. The thread i...

Yeah, maybe a Feather on Monday and an IP the rest of the work week. Something like that. I've got some vintage blades to try as well. Gordon was right, experimentation is inevitable.

By the time I'm cold rinsing I've declared the shave to be complete regardless of what I might see or feel afterwards. :D At least half the knowledge I've acquired here involves the notion that there is a compromise between a healthy face and a closely shaved face. I shave to be visibly presentable,...

My EJ89L is a little "lively" on Monday mornings

Ok, I really really like my EJ89L...if I'm shaving daily. Its very smooth and I can reach that spot just under my nose. I've become very fond of the 89L. But sometimes I skip shaving on the weekend and my beard grows quickly. When I attempt to use the 89L on Monday morning the entire razor is catchi...

I finally got a chance to try St. John's West Indian Limes Soap in the shower. The scent is true to the AS/Cologne and smells great but is not overpowering. The soap (which does not have an ingredients label) is high quality and gives a thicker/richer lather than the Claus Porto that just preceeded ...

My vote went to GFT for Sandalwood. I was told that GreenPond is Harris' version of Sandalwood, not Marlborough. Harris makes GreenPond. I'm sure that there are others more astute than I am about such things. Castle Forbes is Cedarwood with the word sandalwood tacked on, but I can't smell it over t...

I like Dominica w/Limes very much as a sour type bay rum but consider Superior 70 as being on another level entirely. Bay oil and cane alcohol with a straight sweet bay scent. No other bay rum grabbed me like this and I own Meehans and SCS and have tried a few others. I have a rather large amount of...
