Re: Trumper's Violet Cream - Scent

Well, I purchased a tube, and the scent is not the scent that I loved. I did not buy directly from GFT, so I suppose it's possible that I got an older tube. Still, I think I'm writing off Trumper's Violet.

Re: Trumper's Violet Cream - Scent

Gordon, that helps a great deal, actually. You had the right idea: I should dip my toe in the water by buying a tube, instead of a pot. Enough time has passed that I certainly won't be getting a tube of the 2007 stuff (the two pots I have are the result of a failed attempt to buy some pre-2007 stuff...

Re: Trumper's Violet Cream - Scent

Thanks for the input, Tim. It's good to hear that you're enjoying the cream. It's too bad about the soaps, though. I was thinking of that as my backup if I got too much negative feedback on the cream. I think the scent issue may be a bigger problem for those who were used to the prior (pre-2007) vio...

Trumper's Violet Cream - Scent

I apologize if this has been discussed recently, but a brief search of the forum didn't yield the results I'd hoped for. What I'd like to know is whether Trumper ever fixed the violet cream's scent after the change that occurred several years ago. I used this cream prior to the reformulation, and lo...

This used to be the Limelight Disco. I spent many a drunken night there in the mid 80s. Sorry to see c&M lose their lease. The Charlotte store has closed and been replaced by an Art of Shaving store. Sad I think the Limelight was the first place I ever bought $5.00 beers. I hope the girls from ...

I greatly enjoy Penhaligon's Blenheim Bouquet in the winter months. Although it does have that citrus note, the pine always does it for me. I hope that Penhaligon's is reading this thread, takes Gordon's rose advice to heart, and reissues the Hammam Bouquet shave cream. Assuming I can get a mortgage...

I used to buy from Knox Cigar (which has exited the shaving supply business, at least online, I think).

I would prefer a US vendor due to shipping costs.

You could give this a go, Rob, and see if you like it: http://www.caswellmassey.com/sandalwood-shave-cream-jar-2oz.aspx?DepartmentId=76 It's a strong sandalwood fragrance, and you might enjoy it. C-M says you can use a brush with it, but don't you dare. You'll ruin your brush if you do. Now I'm goin...
