Gordon: I've been using an Omega boar brush for some time now. Although I like it, it's certainly not worth crowing about, and I forget to list it. By the way, how did your Omega experiment go?

I can't recommend the Harris Pink highly enough. It's simply superb. And, I've like the Taylor's colognes/aftershaves I've tried, as well. For the third, I'll put in a recommendation for Caswell-Massey's No. 6. It's relatively inexpensive, works well, and has very pleasant fragrance with some citrus...

Sam, the note taking app I use also takes voice notes. I've found that it's pretty handy to hit the icon and dictate something. To be honest, I'm no texting wizard. Even though the Droid keyboard is pretty good, it's just easier for me to give myself a verbal reminder. But, I just forgot that the ne...

I've been using an Android phone for about six months now, Sam, and I really like it. It's the Motorola Droid. Both of my law partners are using the Droid as well, including my technology-challenged partner. The keyboard is quite good on the Droid. The touchscreen takes a bit of getting used to, but...

Gillette '58 Super Speed w/ Euro-Gillette blade Truefitt & Hill Luxury Shave Soap Thayer's Peach Witch Hazel DR Harris Arlington Cologne The peach witch hazel is a decent aftershave. The peach scent fades quickly, and the formula does not sting. The label claims that there is an astringent effec...

Gillette '58 TV Special Super Speed
Gillette "Swede"
Coates Lime Shave Cream
Caswell-Massey No. 6 Aftershave

A setup that's hard to beat, for me anyway. They're all excellent performers, and the citrus scents are a pleasant wake-me-up.

Thanks for the leads, Nick. I'll be sure to check them out. I'm not the fellow from Lawrenceville, by the way. My interest is purely for my own account, not to sell to others. Frankly, I'm not in acquisition mode anyway. I have a few razors I've never even put to my face, which is a pity.

If they're stainless, Nick, I'd give them a go. Last year, I used a package of stainless steel Gillettes from the Sixties, and got excellent results.

Have you found a good antiques source for shaving gear? I recall seeing some out in Blawnox, but not much of a selection.

Gordon! Sam! Why can't one of you just bite the bullet and buy a brand new pot? Then you can tell me if it's safe to buy yet.

Well, Gordon, I guess I'll just wait a bit longer. Perhaps I'll fill the time with one of those pots of DR Harris Rose that Chris Fisher was commenting upon favorably.

Jani, as I recall, there were still tubes of the "old" violet cream being sold when all the pots on the market were filled with the "new", wretched, formulation. It's possible that the tube of cream you sniffed a couple of years back was the old stuff, not the new. So, here I sit...

I did a clean install of Windows 7 Professional 64-bit a few weeks ago. I've really been enjoying it. The new Taskbar, Jumplists, and Libraries are my favorite features. Thus far, it's been rock-solid, and I'm glad I made the switch.

I do find the price a bit off-putting. Let's face it: Clinique is not spending a lot of money on packaging this product. It comes in a cheap plastic bottle, not a cut glass container. Furthermore, it's not truly scentless. It has a rather medicinal odor, but that fades rather quickly. Harris' produc...

Try a martini. You can adjust the amount of vermouth until you find a ratio of gin:vermouth that suits you. Or, how about a Tom Collins? Scotch and soda? There are many websites out there with suggestions. You can browse, pick up some ingredients, and make a variety of cocktails, until you find one ...
