My $20.00 probably won't make a lot of difference, but I think every little bit will help. -Tye But added to everyone else's $10 or $20 or whatever... that's how differences get made, I suppose. I just remembered a major score for Gt Ormond St Hospital, involving a woman. A charity dinner. I went w...

My new 1964 Aristocrat adjustable.

Never used. Until today J2 (February 1964, apparently; made 3 years before I began to shave) Very nice. Very mild on #3. Feels light though only a couple of grams lighter than Slanto-san. I'll crank it up tomorrow and see. But it stays in the rotation, I think, although it won't displace Slanto-san....

New (NOS) '60s Aristocrat Swede Tabac Rooney Finest First Gillette for many a long year. On #3 very - almost peculiarly - mild after the HD, the Progress and, of course, the slant. One with, two across, one against. Close, but not BBS. But of course I need to adjust my technique for this little bugg...

Just out of curiosity, is the hospital this benefits : The Great Ormond Street Hospital. http://www.ich.ucl.ac.uk Until not so long ago I lived in Great Ormond Street more or less opposite the hospital. Whenever I got particularly puffed up and proud of myself I'd walk down the stairs, past the hos...

A la recherche du savon perdu... in 1988 I spent the summer in Golfe Juan on the Côte d'Azur in a house whose previous occupant had left his shaving soap behind. It was Italian. Can't remember much other than that it was a tin about maybe 3" diameter. Didn't make a note of the name. Just used the so...

I do disagree on one point. The newest brushes, especially the new method shaving brush are made to hold unprecedented amounts of water, much of which gets stuck inside the passive parts of the bristles and has no way of escape until you start strirring things up. Then, it's suddenly there watering...

I have the style 3 medium in finest. Both are beautiful brushes and the hair is gorgeous: soft but firm, works fine with soap and cream, a joy to use. I chose the style 3 simply becuase I have a couple of Simpson Chubbies and I wanted something a little different. Haven't regretted it. One of my two...

Okay I'm going to duck immediately after posting this -- not least for fear of Method Shavers with open breeches etc etc -- but, y'know, in ~40 years of shaving with a badger brush and cream/soap, I've found that the best place for lather to be MADE and from where lather's to be APPLIED is the tips ...
