It looks very classy, just like a Rooney #3. The only reason I say "looks like" is that my Rooneys say "sterilised" not "sterilized". But that may mean nothing; they may adapt spelling for the US market.

But what's in a name?

Le blaireau Plisson est arrivé

What sort of ******* shaves at 0215 Zulu? Well: http://upload4.postimage.org/1498219/plisson.jpg I'm sure you fellows understand. (If I'd had razor and soap, I'd have shaved on the train, frankly.) But I feel SBAD may finally have left me. Apart from the PJ2 and the Plisson Black Badger and the Mueh...

Scuttle Butt

Two lovely moss scuttles from Sara Bonnyman arrived this morning. Here they are, with a Rooney 2 medium and a little Duke beside them. http://upload4.postimage.org/1481154/scuttles.jpg There's been some talk about brush size -v- scuttle size. At first use, it seems to me that the important factor is...

In my experience (extensive but not what you'd call definitive) it's not so much whether people want to go somewhere as whether they have to go somewhere. Lots of people want to go to Paris and airfares are reasonably cheap. Nobody really wants to go to Aberdeen, so it costs you an arm and a leg to ...

Slow-release carbs, red wine, plenty of garlic, a good Havana cig-- oh, the car? I just ignore it. Volvo. 148,000 miles. Just bedding in nicely now.

You could spend twice that in England without really trying. I fell into the multifocal trap last year - different script for reading, computer, driving etc. Finally found an opticians where they don't get paid on commission. "Ridiculous," he said. "Extended wear silicone hydrogel contacts, and chea...

SWUTHTBWHMWMOPJGUID* was told by her very fancy face guy (vanity! vanity! none of the men on this site suffer from vanity!) that the best regime is lukewarm water and a clean face flannel . Cleans, exfoliates and is all you need. I've been trying it. I agree. (And, having agreed, I then go and grind...

QED Peppermint Slant + whatever the heck was in there at the time. Wee Scot Creed Ambre Canelle No balm, alum, AS etc. That coooolness from the QED stick was just to cooooool to dilute with anything. Not menthol chilly; just cooooooooooool... and the sensation lasted for over an hour. Tomorrow, the ...

Not sure if the Plisson 14 HMW counts as it is HERE and I am picking it up on Thursday from the friend who kindly brought it over. :D :D :D :D :D :D :D Otherwise, next in the line is a black Plisson with a tortoiseshell handle. Just the thing for QED Mocha Java. Oh what fools we mortal men be. (But ...

Shavex is great Amen to that. And love the old-fashioned smell; reminds me of my dearly-loved grandpa, may he rest in peace (unlikely though that may be to those who knew him). Though I confess every time I use Shavex I feel somehow the baleful glare of my betrayed and spurned brushen on the back o...

40's Gillette SS w/ new Bic DE blade I'll be back in Paxos in a few weeks, head down on the new book; looking forward to trying those Bics having sneered ignorantly at them earlier. Wake up and smell the coffee...

Shipment from QED today. Tried the Mocha Java shave stick. Oh boy oh boy coo gosh wow WOO-HOO. Boy does it NEED that "Not for consumption" warning. I was dubious about shaving with a food-scent product but this stuff is amazing. Three passes over the wet beard, start off with a not-too-wet Rooney Fi...
