Re: The Boxes of Shame - where does this stuff come from?

Gary, that made me laugh out loud! Yes, I've done it but at the time I reasoned to my wife the next day that it was on sale and I've always wanted it and it WILL see good use. The Mrs. was not pleased. It was a Swaine, Adeny, and Brigg umbrella on sale for 50% off on the J. Peterman website. I had a...

Re: "That Lather"

I am very appreciative of all the replies. I admit I am out of the loop on the newer stuff that may be as excellent still as that of the old Houses. I haven't bought anything new in years. The Taylor's supply I have is old formula and makes "that Lather" in spades so I am content in that aspect, I g...

"That Lather"

I'm going to take you all back a bit here to about a decade or so ago. This is pre-Crack of Doom. In those days excellent tallow based soaps were still available. All the rage on the various forums was their beginning reformulation. In those days many of us had correspondence with Trumper's and the ...

Re: BBQ Grills and more specifically, Kamados

Great thread! Thanks to all for the input. Always interested to learn new ways to BBQ. I have a standard Weber kettle and it does OK for our seven member family. I haven't done anything long cooking on it though and have always wondered about other methods - for Summer and all. One day I'll step up,...

Re: Today's lucky find Dubl Duck

Gary, that thing is gorgeous! It looks like it could have been made yesterday. I can't wait to hear the field report on it's performance. My prediction is that it's like new. What I'll also be interested in is if there is any noticeable difference vis a vis a new boar, I imagine there would be and t...

Re: What's in the box?

Gary, good on you! I hope you reach a point where I perceive you want to go and that is to have only what you use and have plenty of it. For my self, I can't create a box. I have many things I like to use and just use them when the spirit moves me. I've pretty much sold off the things I can't use bu...

Re: What's the best shaving soap UNSCENTED?

They still sell it. Alongside all of their other scented versions. The big drawback is that they reformulated all of their shaving soaps several years ago. No longer made by Valobra, and no more tallow. Here's the link: https://www.theartofshaving.com/shaving-products/shaving-soap/shaving-soap-with...

Re: What's the best shaving soap UNSCENTED?

Murray, I'm having a hard time remembering that AOS offered an unscented soap. I guess because I was never interested. If it's the old Valobra formula then that's a good call.

Otherwise I don't have anything to offer on this thread.

Gary, I wish you luck in finding what you like!

Brian, these are going directly into my recipe book and will be used on the next batch of ribs I make (one batch at a time, mind you). I am salivating just reading this.

Thank you so much!!

Chris

P.S. Clive, thank you for asking!

Murray, ha ha! Touche, my friend. We've all got our tastes and it's good that there are vendors of all types to cater to them. I will say this: I was surprised they didn't smell the same either. Years ago I bought the MWF bath soap and I loved it and used it for a long time. When I first bought a ca...

You guys! I have a twenty year old leather wallet I bought from Bugle Boy. It's still in excellent shape and definitely the most long lasting wallet I've ever owned. You guys are making me think I need something new though, just to protect my identity. Ugh!

Bryce the MWF bath soap is fantastic! I love the scent of it too. The scent is quite different from the MWF shaving soap though. I wish the shaving soap scent matched the bath scent as I would use it quite a lot.

Re: Ribs in the oven, I kniow, heresy

Clive, beyond what I do for ribs I'm pretty clueless too. I also use store bought barbecue sauce (whatever the wife buys on sale). I should probably clarify about "all day". I really mean I put them in about noon and we each diner around 7 PM nightly. I'm pretty diligent about basting them and they ...
