I didn't know about it being discontinued. Had I known, I would have picked up a few more, as if I need any more soaps lol. After reviewing my credit card records, I realized that I didn't buy it in Iowa, but in Nebraska. For those of you living there or passing through there, here's the store info:...

Burma Shave -- Test

I picked up a cake of this soap in a small town in Iowa while we were on our way to do a job in Nevada. I think it cost about $3, so it definitely qualifies as a cheap soap. Since I was testing the effects of a long absence on my blades and then testing the new JC custom, I stuck to my usual TGQ/Try...

She finally arrived after a LOOOOOOOOONG wait. Ofcourse I couldn't resist shaving with it even though I knew I'd be late for work. Ah well lol... -For starters, the workmanship is exquisite and she looks even better than on the pictures. -Joe got it as sharp as I've ever gotten a blade and surprisin...

If you have any dollar stores owned by Indian (dots) people, a good number of them carries Supermax blades for a buck. Worth a shot.

You are right about the definition of weepers. The list would have had 5 items had that Derby blade had the dignity to just die on me

As a straight edge user, I didn't get to use too many DE blades, but here are some of my experiences, with a CDN Tech: 1) Israeli Personna -- 5 shaves before it starts pulling. Gave me weepers with every shave, left my face feeling raw. The shave wasn't particularly close. 2) Feather -- 7 shaves. Be...

The cream is crap, but the vendor is very good to deal with. Placed a couple of orders with him since the blades are dirt cheap and very good even with a gentle razor.

I'll recommend getting Derbys off e-bay. They're like $17 shipped for 100. Don't get the shaving creams though, they're crap but I HAD TO test'em anyways 8)

Personal Edge stores carry Feather and Merkur blades but they're expensive (like $5-6 for a 10-pack). Might as well order online.

Once you develop a bit of skill in prepping properly and stretching your skin, you'll be able to get a close shave out of anything that cuts.. With that being said, my closeness ranking goes like this. 1) Straight (*) 2) DE was just a bit less close than straight and grew back sooner 3) Cartridge wa...

I only see one razor there and it sure ain't one of his customs. You bought everything, didn't you? Lol... I wish.. Actually I'm fairly happy with my rotation so I haven't made any purchases since last winter. I should get my butt in gear and get on with some projects on my project bench. Wh...

Hi Joe, Glad to be back home to my city, friends and bike. Did a bit of fieldwork across the border (rural NV). The razor is completely custom. While Robert and Lido/Luca hammer-forge, Joe, Bill and Darrell do stock-removal, which should make the razors a bit cheaper. Joe's prices reflect that (but ...

I had every faith in Joe when I asked him to put my name on it even before seeing the pics.. He surprised me by it going way beyond my wildest expectations. The blade is at about 9/8 (maybe just short, but not by a lot).

I have a bunch of pieces that I restored and one new Filly, so the only thing missing was a custom. Since Joe already did a beautiful regrind for me, I went with him even though both Robert Williams and Lido&Luca Livi has some pimp pieces as well. As you can see, there are absolutely no regrets.. I ...

Jerry,
This was a custom piece by Joe Chandler. I wanted an unusual size, in French point, linear file-work on the spine, a monkey tail, with maple burl scales. He took those ideas and made them work beautifully. I don't remember if he's a member here, but you can find him at SRP for sure.

Once you develop enough experience, even the arm-hair test will give you a good picture of how sharp the edge is. You just have to figure out how a shave-ready blade cuts your arm-hairs.
