I'm inclined to agree with Clive...

Part of the fun "IS" the lathering. I enjoy taking my time doing it.

I think you will like it here, so enjoy and please participate in the conversations. There is a lot of expertise around here.

Re: First-and last-Scuttle

Ironic... Just broke the insert to my Dirty Bird (Face Lathering Model) Scuttle. Now I have a nice cup. Maybe I can get her to make me another insert or I might just do without. Decisions...decisions.

Re: WTB Kampfe '13 Lather Catcher

Well I thought I had one. Had to check over 50 razors; Gems, Valets, and other names but not the one you seek. Sorry. Let me know if you will accept another similar version. I'll just have to check and see if SE razors will fit. Some of my razors have the auto-strop on them and I'm sure I don't have...

Shaving 101 never fails. The basics are always a good place to start.

Good Luck.

Don't Do It

Do not leave a GEM Blue Star razor blade in a G-Bar. Just so I'm clear on this, "It will rust". I used my G-Bar and a Gem Blue Star the other day and it worked so well I used it the next night. Left it in the razor for a couple of nights and just happen to see a brown substance on my bathroom counte...

This has always been a YMMV issue. I load my brush (after a few years experience) until it looks/feels right (soap or cream). It usually is. Normally enough for two and sometimes three passes. If I don't go three, I lather my face with the extra and wash my face with the excess. Have enough in stock...

Man what a find. I'm glad you were able to figure it out. I'm still a purist and would have to think twice before having it replated. Cleaned , yes, replated....????

Either way, ENJOY.

Will a regular blade fit or does it appear proprietary. I find this an amazing razor because I've never seen one like this. Wonderful find and would love to use it. On the other hand, I don't not think I would have it replated. I would leave it as is. Personal choice of course.

Congratulations.

Unless you are a collector or plan on selling the razor and blades for profit: USE THE BLADES: How else can you experience the original shaving exerience of the time. If it doesn't work, then react accordingly.

Have fun.

There is a flimsy Wilkinson double bladed disposable at Walmart with the bar that pushes the crud between the blades out and that little strip at top. Tried to use it today and it does not work. The BIC that is pictured did not shave well either on me. So far it is the Good News Gillette Pivot. I a...

What Razor would you like as a "Go To" razor.
