I was fortunate enough to have owned and driven my dream car for almost fifteen years. It was retired when the pan (frame) broke. It was a Bradley GTII with custom running gear including a 210hp motor. I still treasure the memory of beating a Porsche Turbo Carrera with that car. The looks on peoples...

Entertaining and educational. Thanks Chris. I do think that the Moss VLB should have had more mention though.

I can't say about the Futur, but the new R41 is more aggressive than my Fatboy on 9.

While I love the new R41 head, the knurling on the handle is a disappointment. Like James, I've put my Ikon handle on it. The best thing would be if Ikon made an R41 head in stainless steel. I'd be in shaving bliss then.

I personally like the shaves the new 41 gives me. I noticed that it leaves my face feeling 'velvety' like my better str8s do. The stubble-out time is about the same as a str8 as well. I've not noticed any 'thinning' with str8s or the 41, but then my skin is fairly tough. FWIW, I'm using Astra platin...

I liked my sample enough to buy a bottle. I also like that one spritz lasts all day on me. Great stuff.

I've tried various inks, but seem to return to Noodler's. Their Legal Lapis is frequently used, but the Navajo Turquoise is a lovely bright blue.

^This.
Experience with str8s will be very useful with this razor. For those shavers who don't have str8 experience, go very slowly and cautiously. This razor will draw blood if anything is not perfect.

That, or they used the previous (milder) version. The new 41-C can leave stubble after one pass, but will take it all down in a standard three pass shave. It was almost 24 hours before I had some stubble. This equals the best str8 shave I've had. I think I now have my ideal 'safety' razor.

Clive:
You might want to look into the Namiki Vanishing Point fountain pen. The interior 'cartridge' (nib and reservoir) is only about $30. It's the most quickly deployed fountain pen design out there. The nibs are remarkably smooth.

I bought the Razorock version, and couldn't be happier. It's perfect for a road warrior. I like how my face feels afterward, even if it is only marginally effective on weepers.

I received mine in record time from bullgoose. The first shave with it was with the Derby blade in the Muhle razor box. It's now been 12 hours since the shave, and no discernible stubble yet. This rivals a good str8 shave. This razor is definitely not for those who haven't perfected their shave-fu. ...

Andrew, The Groom Room. The last time I was there for a trim, I spent an hour afterward discussing shaving with Troy and his wife. He's currently in the process of developing his own line of DE razors. The synthetic bristle brush he carries is now my main travel brush.

For that money you should get diamond edges on the blades. This is obviously for those ultra-rich that seek perfect shaves. We all know that there's a seeker born every minute.

I had a lovely conversation with my barber (Troy, owner/operator of The Groom Room in Ames, IA) last weekend. I brought a few of my favorite razors for him to peruse. I told him that whilst my Gem G gave a shave nearly as close as a str8, the Schick Hydromagic injector was perhaps the most perfect r...

He's not quite there yet. When the ADs hit, he will be.

BTW Andrew: Welcome to SMF from a fellow Iowan. If you're near Ames, The Groom Room carries a decent selection of shave goods as well as offering shave clinics ($25 IIRC).
