I'll have to second the recommendation on Lamys, either the Safari or the AL-Star. Both are very good writers that are almost bullet-proof. My own go-to pen is a Namiki Vanishing Point in (Japanese) fine. A wonderful writer that is very quick to deploy. That pen will generally go for about $100 thou...

After forgetting my little Vulfix super travel brush once, I now have the 'emergency reserve brush' (Surrey) in my luggage at all times. I always leave my travel razors in my luggage as well.

He was the most well informed and least biased of all the interviewers I've watched. This is a loss to the voting public right when his presence was needed most.

The Reform 1745 I just got from an FPN member in the Netherlands is a wonderful writer for around $20 delivered. A nice piston-filler with a 'medium' nib that the gent smoothed up before shipping. It actually is more a M-F with Diamine Imperial Blue. I'll have to try some other inks in it, as the cu...

I've been enjoying my Lamy 2000 that arrived Saturday. The EF nib behaved like a wet F with Aurora black, but settled down when I switched to Polar Black. Now it's a true gem to write with. I'll be interested to see how long I can go without filling. Note: the 'instructions' show a post-fill expelli...

I enjoy the Weird Al dvd I bought a while back. 'It's All About the Pentiums' is hysterical.

Here's the rub I use on my ribs. I get chipotle from Penzeys, as theirs has the most 'smoky' flavor of all I've tried. I also substitute smoked paprika whenever I feel like it. Basic Pork Rub 4 T Kosher salt 6 T Turbinado sugar 3 t Paprika 4 t Black pepper 3 t Ground chipotle 2 t Onion powder 2 t Ga...

I'm sure one could find an appropriate weapons-grade scent at the local dollar store for such a task.

A VLB with a denser silvertip? Yegods! In that case, I don't know if it would have room for water if you retracted it.

Tomorrow I'll fire up the Klose full of pork. About 20# of country style ribs, six racks of St. Louis, and a couple of butts for sandwiches. Looks like thunderstorms are forecast, but the pit's under cover.

I'm currently enjoying a Loose Cannon Hop^3 Ale from Clipper City Brewing in MD. Very nicely hopped, but at 7.25% ABV I'm going to stop at two. I'll have to go back to the store tomorrow and pick up some stuff that had over 100 IBU hop level.

Try a Punch Punch Rothschild or a CAO Brazilia Piranha for a nice fuller flavored/bodied smoke. I always have a couple of boxes of each in my fridgeador.

I'm one of those who had the first generation upgraded to the SS version. As I've said elsewhere, I love it, but it's a bit of a heavy beastie. It is also the one brush I will NOT take with me on the road. Not because of the weight, but that I couldn't bear it suffering a mischief.

I can't recall how many times various professionals (engineers, master tradesmen) have been flummoxed when I produced the answer to simple math problems while they were pulling up the calculator on their friggin cell phones. Keerist, don't they teach...

Ditto on thewellshavedgentleman for strops. I occasionally shave with my Japanese style Feather str8, but find that I get better shaves (longer to stubble out) with one of my traditional blades. I also get way better feedback from the regular str8s. I sometimes get a cut from the Pros or Super Pros ...
