It is a nice looking razor.

Do the aesthetics of the razor affect the shave at all?

Is it an aggressive or tame shave?

Regarding the search function, a while back I remember someone had shared a quick and very accurate way to search SMF via Google. I'm just not sharp enough of memory to recall exactly what you had to type in on the google site to initiate the search. I believe if you preface your query with host:sh...

I hate that I wasted so many years shaving with cartridges, canned goo and electric shavers. I also regret that I did not stock up on Superspeed and Injector razors when I was younger. I could have made a small fortune. I had no idea that razors were so valuable.

Andy, You are right. The dispenser seems to be reloadable. It has a spring mechanism similar to the Schick Injector. Insert the blade into the slot where it injects. Move the red arrow backwards. And push down inside the open slot on top where the red arrow is with a small screwdriver to fully seat ...

Thank you for the replies Gentlemen and the great info.

She shaved great. I found a slight downward angle from flat on the face to be perfect.
The shave was close with little irritation. This gem might become one of my favorite shavers.

Does anyone know if the razor cartridge can be reloaded?

My New Gem

I just won what looks to be a new Gem razor. I love the razor, but I do not know how I ended up purchasing it. :? Here are the pictures. It came with the instructions and the razor insert. I have attached some pics. I have a few questions. Are the old ASR (I assume they are ASR) blades safe to use? ...

I have noticed a huge disparity in the quality of the Derby blades. A rare blade will be real good lasting 5 shaves. Most blades last for 2 shaves. Some are just barely usable for 1 shave. I hate the inconsistency. It is like a lottery. My Super Iridiums and Feathers consistently give 4-5 shaves; my...

I find Derbys good for 1 or 2 shaves only. Most times it is difficult trying to get that second shave. For me, they are the worst blade period. 3-4 Shaves from a blades is normal for me.

I find shave oils a good substitute for brushless creams. I would not use them with a brush. I found 4 of them in the discontinued aisle of a dug store for $3 each. I could not resist.
