W-1 Super Speed Sold.

I don't have many Personna injector blades at all, but I now have a lot of Schicks - Plus Platinum old stock, somewhat recent Chinese ones, and American-made ones from the 1990's.

Re: A Guessing Game

The purpose of the prongs is to hold the blade in a way that makes it easy to rinse clean and then close up the razor again.

Possible caution about electric dishwasher boosters

I tried a longer soaking with Oxi-Clean booster and a Schick adjustable injector razor (Type M2), and something happened that might or might not have been caused by that. I had just gotten the razor in the mail, and I didn't check the condition carefully except to notice that it was dirty. After I r...

Re: Has anyone tried the Gillette 3?

Is it a lighter handle than the Mach 3? I'm guessing that it is lighter, like the current Sensor razors made in Asia and not sold in the USA.

Re: SE expert an SMF treasure

Nobody thought back then that there would be a new single edge razor made, let alone several.

Gary, your mention of Dave is ambiguous - is he still alive?

(By the way, another one of my favorites, Themba, has been gone a long time, but I assume he's all right, just not posting anything.)

I just saw the same razor at a Dollar Tree, but branded with their "Assured" health products name.

My attempt to resist R.A.D. Is being tested by eBay listings for these razors.

Re: My New Kind of S.A.D. - Slant Acquisition Disorder

I'm glad someone else is here to explore the 4-dimensional space carved out (created? delimited?) by slant razors. :) (See earlier posts in this thread...) According to a review at The Sharpologist, the Maggard slant head design is based on a Mulcuto, so we're probably using very similar razors ther...

Re: Phoenix Injector Razor for $18 (copy of Schick Type L)

You confirmed my educated guess, based on the quality of the bakelite razors I got from Phoenix. If I didn't have so many Schicks (and a Gillette, Personna, and Pal injector), I would snap it up. I may get one anyway out of curiosity.

Phoenix Injector Razor for $18 (copy of Schick Type L)

https://phoenixartisanaccoutrements.com/products/phnx-injector-type-l-single-edge-razor-homage-to-a-classic They didn't know if it's the same as the Chinese knockoff "Shave Classic" injector that has quality problems. I would hope that they would be better at screening their offerings than that. Has...

Re: My New Kind of S.A.D. - Slant Acquisition Disorder

Forget the "hammer"; I'd recommend the Maggard slant head, even though its dark gray color doesn't match many handles. I'm using it with the dark red bakelite handle from my Alpha Ecliptic slant razor. For that matter, I like my Alpha, too, which is color coordinated red bakelite. (You can get an al...

FS: PRICE REDUCED - New Gillette Long (black) Handle Super Adjustable - U1 (1974) - $135

This is the Super-109* (for 109mm length) razor, in the original case sealed with the original tape (pretty sure), mounted on the original card. Old enough that there's no UPC code. Old enough that the bottom plate of the razor head is metal, not black plastic. Includes 2 Platinum Plus blades, not m...

With the Feather cartridge razors, my suggestion is to shave at the kitchen sink and use the sprayer to unclog it. :)

Re: Has anyone tried the Gillette 3?

I think the Gillette 3 and 5 are responses to slackened sales due to high prices. They seem somewhat cheaper to make (less metal in the handle, etc.), so the profit margin wouldn't go down much, if at all. And adding more product versions means taking up more shelf space at the store. Anything to av...

Re: Has anyone tried the Gillette 3?

Clive, that makes a lot more sense (Feather cartridges clogging, not DE blades), and I'm sorry for misunderstanding you.

I'm surprised that Feather never came out with a single blade cartridge. And I'm surprised that Gillette did (the Guard), especially at such a late date.

Re: Has anyone tried the Gillette 3?

I just tried a Feather in the Maggard slant head, and it was very nice. I didn't notice any more clogging than with any other blade, and I was shaving off at least 36 hours of growth. (But I haven't really had a clogging problem with DE razors in general, not nearly as much as with cartridges.) I do...
