Re: Coate's Shaving Cream Tubes - All Scents

If anyone wants to take the remaining tubes off me (14 in total - see above for scents), I'll take $57 including shipping. That's just $2.50 a tube.

I'll also reduce the price of tubes sold in singles to $2.50 plus shipping charges.

Slackskin, yes, but it appears to have been sold once again. From what we understand here at SMF, the so called 'resurrection' is on hold, if it even happens at all.

I face lather, but if I was in the market for a bowl of some kind, it would be a Moss Scuttle.

Re: Floris shaving creams

Hmmm interesting, John; I can't find them on the Floris website either. Although these three scents don't interest me (too modern in style for my liking), I know some people round here do enjoy using them. I'll be paying a visit to the Jermyn Street shop in a couple of weeks, so I'll look and see if...

Re: Best English creams/soaps for sensitive skin?

Welcome to SMF, highdrytoast. Taylor's Avocado is quite easy on the skin, and certainly one to consider. If you haven't tried it before, it's a...ahem...slightly different scent. It doesn't, at least to me, smell that much like Avocado really, but it is fairly innocuous since it isn't heavily fragr...

Re: Razor Bump Products

John, I use Bump Stopper 2 and have been very impressed with it. It's not overly expensive, and is simply an odourless paste which you apply 2-3 times a day. I like how it doesn't dry the skin out, but most importantly it really does get rid of and prevent ingrown hairs forming. As much as I agree w...

Re: Geo. F. Trumper Moisturizing Lotion - Mini-Review

John, my understanding is that the 12 month symbol is on the bottle to indicate that it should be used within that time frame.....it doesn't necessarily mean there is enough there to last 12 months. I've used this lotion on and off for a few years and have always been impressed by it, though it IS c...

Re: Praise due for Floris No.89 shave soap

Good story Gareth, a Scottish lass married one of our boys and moved here. A couple years later her parents called to say they would be flying to Canada to visit relatives and being used to driving from Scotland to England thought they would rent a car and just pop down. She replied, "Mother, drivi...

Re: D.R. Harris Golden Shampoo

I've always liked the Lemon Cream Shampoo from DRH, not least because it has such an unusual texture (like a paste). I think I might give Golden Shampoo a try next time. Like Gordon, I've seen it many times on the shelves at Harris's, but never actually picked it up.

Re: Trumpers creams

I remember the 'Crack of Doom' thread from when I first joined SMF and got into this. The creams have definitely improved significantly from the off tubs that were around in '06 and '07, and certainly from what I've read, they're pretty much back to where they were before the reforumlation. It's a r...

Re: Dress shoes, Allen Edmonds, Florsheim, Cheany & Sons

Chris, there are still a handful based in Northamptonshire; Church's, Cheaney and Loake are the main ones that spring to mind. I don't think Church's do much manufacturing and re-branding for other companies, so I would say your boots are more likely to be from either Cheaney or Loake.

Re: Dress shoes, Allen Edmonds, Florsheim, Cheany & Sons

You should also consider Church's shoes. They're of an absolutely excellent quality and I wear them almost exclusively for both casual and formal wear. What I find particularly endearing about them is that with reasonable care, the shoes can last a lifetime due to the company's refurbishment program...
