Re: Shavemac Finest

Bryan, it sounds like we have similar brush tastes. My most-used brush prior to synthetics was a Savile Row 3122, which is just a rebranded Shavemac 3-band silvertip. I do have a 2-band Shavemac, also in a fan shape, a 24mm knot. Bigger knots seem unwieldy to me in badger. I appreciate your impressi...

Re: Boellis Panama 1924

Terrific review, Basil. Although I've not used this soap, the category of Italian soft soaps is one I find very appealing. Unfortunately, the benzaldehyde used for the almond scent does not agree with my skin. I was able to use ABCBA, which is not strongly scented, and it sounds like this soap is no...

Re: Shavemac Finest

I've never tried the Pure from Shavemac, nor the 2-band D01. The whole spectrum in the middle is spectacular IMO. Do you mind giving your impression of the Pure, Bryan?

Re: Shavemac Finest

Well, now on a computer, I can see I should've resized those images to be a bit smaller. At any rate, a bit about this brush. I bought a Shavemac Finest in 2013, and it was a fantastic brush. I ordered it at a 22mm knot and 48mm loft because Bernd's knots are sometimes a bit larger at the base than ...

Frittata with goat cheese, asparagus, and pan-roasted tomatoes this morning in honor of Mothers' Day. Re: simpson's have improved

Wish I'd never sold the Commodores I had (an X2 and an X3, both excellent). The X2 was my first Simpson and first badger. I bought it at Pasteur's in NYC during a trip in March of 2008. If only for the sentimental value, I wish I had held onto it. The X3 was actually a better lathering instrument fo...
