Thanks, Gene. Looks like a Pal, shaves like a . . . ? Mighty interesting, that's for sure.

Re: Razor monogamy

That's an impressive knot, Fitch. All hail the plexi. I was lucky enough to try something similar a while back and the experience was transcendent.

Re: New Whipped Dog Synthetic

My first use of the WD with Ubersoft knot @ 24/54. Great lathering job on LASS Unscented. The fibres act and feel closer to The Grooming Co. brush than the Plisson, but the lineage is apparent. It doesn't have the cachet of my Thater, but it's hard not to like.

Re: WD,EJXL and Plisson Synthetics

I'm waiting on an Ubersoft 24mm synthetic knot from Whipped Dog, have a Chiseled Face Fauxmere 24mm in house, and am thinking about adding the new Stirling 26mm. These are all Plisson-style knots in a denser and/or larger configuration than the original Plisson. They're inexpensive: the three togeth...

Re: 70s Music

I find a lot of hidden gems in soundtrack albums. Plenty of filler in these, but some beautiful music too: "Elizabethtown" (Nancy Wilson originals + classic rock and R&B), "The Village," "Gattaca" for newer; "Casino Royale" (Dusty Springfield) comes to mind for earlier. And Broadway play soundtracks...

Re: Tim's Soap

I received Tim's Edwardian Lime just after I ordered two other soaps with some reknown for mildness and latherability: Harris Lavender and Haslinger Coconut. I guess my sensitivity has peaked since I ended up dumping those because the scents were just too cloying for me. Tim's continues to chug away...

Re: Tim's Soap

After having used Tim's Edwardian Lime for a short while, it has become my favorite scented soap. Tim uses lavender to tame the lime (and visa versa), and it presents with just the right balance to my nose, which is decidedly scent sensitive. This lime scent is just there in a very natural way, not ...

Re: Thater

Since Thater won't see fit to provide a 2-band silvertip for their 4376 handle, another option is to go Gary's route with his Rooney knot and Shavemac plexi handle and have Bernd put together one of his new 2-band silvertips in a 163 handle. He actually already put one together for viewing, and it's...

Re: Thater

Gary, I didn't want to impose on our comrade, who rarely posts here anymore -- and I'd still prefer the 4376 handle rather than the 49125. In the meanwhile, I'll keep re-reading this thread to build up interest in going 3-band. :)

Re: Thater

I did ask one of our long-time Continental members if there was anything he could do, since he most definitely had an "in" with certain brushmakers. Unfortunately, that also went nowhere. While I might yet contact the European website that carries the 49125 plexi to see if their shipping restriction...

Re: Thater

Gary, I contacted both SRD and Royal Shave about this last year. Neither company wanted to have anything to do with special ordering from Thater. I don't know what was behind their reasoning, but it was definitely a cold shoulder response. I also suggested such a brush as an LE on one of the shaving...

Re: Thater

If only Thater would put one of their 2-band bulbs in a 4376 handle . . .
They've done so with the 49125 style plexi, but that's still only available overseas.

Dominica Bay Rum and Bay Rum Lime is available again in the 10-oz. bottles through their distributor, Calantilles.
Distributor has confirmed a mistake in the higher price listing for BRL. Both BR and BRL will be sold at the same, lower price.

Re: L'Occitane Plisson has been out of stock not discontinue

The Plisson factory has been offering an ivory- and an ebony-handled version for 30-something U.S. dollars. I believe it's a molded rather than turned handle, but they look decent, certainly nicer than the L'Occitane wood version. The knots are the same, however. Worth a look-see: http://blaireauxpl...
