You have unleashed a beast. From the discussions I have seen, it is about 90% against pre-shave oil's here, though there are some adherents. I would agree with Matt and Gordon - get your technique down. You will notice less and less irritation as your technique improves. Also, from what I have found...

Yes, please let us know - I had seen a comment elsewhere (can't remember where but I think it was on this forum) that they are from the same company (possibly even same factory) but are a step up in quality over the derbys.

I have them on my list to buy, so would be interested in your findings.

Don't know about delivery times from one UK address to another, but I was blown away when I got my Connaught order in 6 days (UK to US). Considering it takes 5 days for me to get a letter from Dallas to a town near Chicago! Paul is top notch. If there is a delay, it is likely something that is out o...

It's interesting to see the responses. I am somewhat surprised as I figured the numbers would be generally, on the average, a little bit higher. I am shooting for 5k, as I figure that will last me the rest of my life. (right now I am still about 3k shy) The only thing I figure will present the dread...

It's a snap to get a new blade in. Getting an old blade out takes a second, but it isn't much of a hassle.

Give them $50 and ask them to find something interesting. If it isn't to your taste, you can sell. If it is no good, it was an interesting exercise at not too much of a loss.

I was worried about the aluminium/alzheimers link as well. Tried any number of deodorants myself (including Toms). Found they didn't work. Plus I found some studies saying there was no clear link, so go figure. I don't dig the idea of rubbing aluminium on myself everyday, but nothing else does the j...

Agreed. Since acquiring a slant, my other razors have seen very little action. Quick and efficient, I can get a decent one pass shave with my slant. I have yet to combine it with a Feather. Feathers were a bit rough on my skin when I tried them, but that was with multiple passes with an HD. Will hav...

Try out CereVe hydrating cleanser (comes in a white and green bottle). I have problems with breakouts when I use regular soaps as well. Works better for me than Cetaphil, and I don't have to use any additional moisturizer. I think it is sold at Walgreens.

I'm not much of a techie, but I don't think closing the tab is as effective as closing the browser window - the only reason I say this is that I notice I can log into my email, close the tab, then open a new tab and type in my email HTTP address, and it will already be logged in. Cotton ball is a good one - or just let your beard grow for a day or two, and run you fingers along it. The direction (from various parts) that gives the most resistance is against the grain.

But there are much more knowledgeable members on the forum who can give better advice.

I've seen a couple (leisure guy's guide maybe?) but the fact is - the diagram depends on grain direction and everyone's is significantly different.

Best I know, is to draw your own through time and testing.
