Re: Eight Years as of last month - Thanks

I never thought about it until I saw this thread. But my join date is listed as 7 July 2004. It's great to see a forum stick around this long! =D>

The Shave Tutor Videos Return!

Re: Floris soaps performance and scents

Sometimes it's good to have a shaving blog. I got a press sample of "The Gentleman Floris" shaving soap a week or so ago, so I could try it and post my review at launch. The full text (and pics) will be on Sharpologist tomorrow but in summary: This is a glycerin-based, triple-milled shaving s...

Thanks for the suggestions! I've already taken the first tentative, preparatory steps. I just debuted a new feature on...

Re: A Full-Time Wet Shaving Advocate!

Speaking of retirement, I really "dodged a bullet!" It's only been 2 weeks and I just found out my old department is being "reorganized." My old boss is now assigned to "Special Projects" (which is a euphanism for "we're not going to fire you right away but you better be looking for a job") and the ...

Re: A Full-Time Wet Shaving Advocate!

Mark, As others have posted, just carry on as you have, just more of it. I have often regretted, if even for a moment, my decision to retire a bit early- I miss my job and my colleagues. I didn't have a real hobby or something to grasp my attention....you seem to enjoy that advantage. Congrats and ...

A Full-Time Wet Shaving Advocate!

Last week I took early retirement from my 9-5 desk job to be a full-time shaving/grooming advocate! What would you like my role here to be?

How to Get A Better Shave On Your Neck

After a long hiatus, the Shave Tutor videos have returned! A while back I surveyed users on some of the forums about what their most annoying shaving problem was, and most of the responses had something to do with the neck. So I put together this video (+ a long blog post with more detail): iFdEpVJ_...

Re: J Peterman 1903 cream

Chris, I had my 3rd shave this morning with the 1903 cream. I can't compare it to previous jars since this is my first time using this cream. I do like the strong scent, but again, can't compare to previous style of the product. Today I used a synthetic brush, swirled on the cream for 15 seconds an...

Re: Strongly Scented Products?

T&H 1805, J. Peterman 1903 Of the four dozen products I have, J Peterman 1903 is the strongest scent. I guess I'm going to have to crack open the wallet for some again then. I tried it a few years back and loved the strong scent, but the next pot I bought had been toned-back quite a bit. I guess th...

Strongly Scented Products?

What are the most strongly-scented traditional wet shaving products around right now? Tabac? Check. Castle Forbes? Got it. What else (soap, cream, aftershave)?

OK, now that I've had a chance to use the Micro Touch One for a while, HERE is a more thorough review along with a how-to-use-it guide for DE newbies (plus video!).

Re: Pawns stars shamelessy tries to pulloff a DE razor

OK, I've had a few shaves with the Micro Touch One. These are my initial thoughts. A much more thorough review and video will be coming soon on Sharpologist. Overall, not a bad razor kit, but over-priced for what you get. The razor is apparently engineered to be exceedingly mild. Dorco blades are ac...

Re: Pawns stars shamelessy tries to pulloff a DE razor

I just received it. Dorco blades. No manufacturing markings on the razor ("Made in China" on the back of the case). It does remind me of a Weishi. There is actually some heft and balance to it. There's a small "getting started" pamphlet with it. More to come this evening I hope... http://i.imgur.com...

Yeah, it's a shame. Don kept those archives up as long as he could, but he was quite ill and eventually they were lost. There were a hell of a lot of interesting threads you may be sure. Hell, I think I've forgotten half of what I knew back then...seriously. That one part of a page is from Feb. 200...
