I went wilderness camping Saturday through Monday and didn't shave while away so today, Tuesday, I had a nice growth to work with. Shower and hot towel treatment. Whipped up some Vulfix Lime with my Rooney best badger. Shaved with my new Ikon Classic open comb with a feather (3rd shave with the blad...

Dave, SMF is about the only shaving forum that does NOT have anything to sell and that has no 'deals' with any vendors nor charges them for their notices here. And that is one reason we are what we are, and we intend to remain that way. It keeps us entirely unfettered and free to post in a disinter...

I've been spending on stuff too. My last order had some basics that you guys have all tried but I hadn't and was actually embarrassed that I hadn't in my single year of DE shaving. Well I just started with MWF soap and Proraso Cream. About the most basic things in the world right? So far the Proraso...

I'm also a one or the other person. In the winter I preferred the witch Hazel, Thayers citrus to be exact. My skin is dry already and the AS on top would be too much. Then I follow with a balm. In the summer I've been using English Leather Christmas gifts up and lately Pinaud Clubman jamaica Bay Rum...

A sound 40 years with a dashing look, a head of oak, and a heart of .. um.. wait a second that's not right. I remember my dad shaving with a Schick probably an injector type. I remember playing with a TTO that he kept in a cigar box of 1950-60's mementos. I would grab my sister with the open ...

Of course I did! I thought is was SOP here.

Actually the bathroom is so small and storage so limited I kind of had to. My mistake was not putting more shelves in the space.

Just simple pine boards with a Linseed oil finish. Simple and kind of sharp if I do say so myself.

Christmas in August! My Ikon came today!

It truly was like Christmas as it had all the elements; anticipation for days, cool wrapping job like individual presents, and winter coolness of menthol Prorasso and joy with the new treasures! I ordered from Shoebox Shave shop, a Ikon Classic Deluxe in high polish, this is the 2010 comb style and ...

Well today was a treat as I got a package from Gary at Shoebox Shave Shop with my new Ikon classic deluxe razor. I was off yesterday and today so I saved my stubble in anticipation. I got the package around noon and just finished shaving. Since I showered 5 hours previously I did the hot towel treat...

I'm all for .50 cal's if you can find the place to shoot them. They had a .50 cal shoot last year at Ft. Drum and a friend of mine helped run it. Personally I'm a bit recoil shy and prefer the .50 cal in a Browning M2 Heavy Machine gun. I read that they're still making them in the Saco Defense plant...

Blades are kind of like hats, pick one that suits your personality and mood. My normal day to day knives are also Benchmade. My going to work knife is an Automatic Stryker, it's a stout knife with a thick back and tanto point. I'm a uniformed conservation officer and I'm likely on my own without bac...

Heck I was going to suggest looking at the razor's head for a soap scum buildup. I've noticed a sticking action if the head isn't nice and clean. Rinsing under my hot and hard water will leave a film. I wipe them clean and dry after the rinse as a hot rinse won't do. I'm more of a bourbon fan with m...

I took a hiatus from the computer and I missed the sale on these!

Oh well, I might indulge in one for my birthday.

I see on the Ikon website that he'll mix and match the finishes. I may order the bright polished handles with a brushed open comb and a brushed safety bar.

I later tumbled the rounds in walnut and polishing compound. You tumbled live rounds? I will admit I'm the furthest thing from knowledgable when it comes to ammo, but my jaw dropped and my eyebrows raised when I read that. I think olive oil, being so plentiful in Italy, was used for many things. My...
