I was concerned about the rough surface of the interior of my mortar, but a few minutes with sandpaper gave a glass smooth surface. Marble is surprisingly soft, and will smooth easily with sandpapaer.

I had posted a link to Amazon.com, but it seemed to come up with a link to my account, so I deleted that post. However, if you want to see an example, search amazon or google for 'mortar and pestle' and you will find several samples.

Marble "scuttle"

I've been folowing the several threads recently on scuttles, and was thinking about what exactly I wanted in a bowl or scuttle: a bowl shape suitable for building lather, easily heated, that would retain heat to keep the brush and lather warm for the duration of the shave, and at low cost. I have a ...

coates almond

Although Coate's creams are hard to find, the Tinderbox (www.tinderbox.com) has Coate's almond cream in tubes: 1.7 oz for $5 each. I ordered three, but my package contained 5 (FIVE) tubes, for $15 plus $7 shipping, a total of $22 for 8.5 oz of cream. Quite the deal.

Today I received a very thorough, polite, clear response from Castle Forbes. I had e mailed them originally asking if perhaps the pot of Lavender cream I had was mistakenly filled with Lime. They assured me that they had investigated that particular lot, and that it is indeed Lavender. In the meanti...

I spoke with the account rep at Knoxville cigar (I think it was Jake) who was VERY accommodating. He is shipping another lavender pot (which I think he will pre-sniff) and a return shipping label for the cream I have, and is going to contact Castle Forbes if indeed it appears they have mislabelled t...

Today I received a tub of CF lavender cream, purchased based on reviews here and on my favorable experience with CF lime cream. The container has a black lid, silver label with purple writing ("lavender oil"), but it smells unmistakeably like LIME. Is my nose wrong, or could this have been mislabell...

I like their Vitamin A and E moisturizing lotion as an after shave balm. It is so lightly scented that it can be used with other aftershaves, and is an excellent balm.

Thanks for all your replies. I emailed TSA and got a form type reply that did not address my question. As best I can tell, it's OK to carry on your DE razor WITHOUT a blade. Blades must be checked. My solution, since I don't usualy check my bag, is to mail a few blades to my destination and carry my...

Richard, Thank you for the welcome! Until recently, my practice was to use PSO only, shaving with a Mach3. It was fast, easy, and I never got cut. I'm now using a Merkur HD, and a variety of soaps (St. Carles, Taylors, T+H), but I haven't yet tried the DE with PSO alone. My shaves are closer, and I'...
