+1 on Gary's input. I have no natural talent at it, so that means I have to work my tail off, doing alot of blades. #243 was finished last night. I'll feel better when its 10x that. Assumptions: your stones are clean, lapped flat, and chamfered. Bevel is really really really set, and already shaves ...

Hoffo,

I've had work from gssixgun a few times. Its excellent & he's great to work with.

Should you need periodic honing/touch-up, would be glad to do for only cost of return postage.

If I read you right, you just served. Thank You. 'Glad you're back safe & sound.

Hi Wendell, When new to str8s, I don't recommend the ebay/antique store route, but you're already there - and it DOES look dang nice. The good Doctor's offer of honing is strongly recommended. I finished honing the first near wedge Clauss I've seen. It will be a gift for a friend that's wanting to learn the str8. He has heavy timber for beard, so I thought a heavy grind was in order. It shaved beautifully. Friendly, smooth, takes a good edge. I have a couple of the hollows waiting for cle...

'Nothing wrong w/ a Boker at all. 'Have handled or hone 6. Some had some warp or wave, but not much, and always delivered a good shave. On the 4/8 size: If you have avg or large sized hands, the smaller shanks of the 4/8 (some 5/8) can twist in your hand if you strop quickly. It doesn't end well. Or...

I have the EJ version on the wall of shame. I didn't think it anything special. If you want a good thick 1/4 grind I'd steer you towards a Wacker (but be prepared for some serious honing!) Chris Now there's a man who knows a good heavy grind! In hindsight, I should have just bought the 2 razor set ...
