Gordon, Is the Basis soap you are referring to the Basis Sensitive Skin bar soap? I have used this soap for some time now as it has displaced all other shower soaps I have tried and I consider it to be one of the best discoveries I have ever made. It is very agreeable with my skin, tallow based, ver...

I also regularly use the USA Personna blades from Wal-Mart with good results and I like the local availability. Frankly, if I could buy Feather blades and a Tabac shave stick locally, I would use nothing else with my Merkur HD.

Tom's of Maine Discontinuing Calendula and Mint Shave Creams

I just got off the phone with a Tom's of Maine representative who confirmed that the company is discontinuing their calendula and mint shave creams which are not currently listed on the Tom's of Maine website. This is my favorite shave cream and my favorite product of the entire Tom's of Maine line....

Any of you gents tried the Basis Sensitive Skin Bar? This is a tallow based soap as shown by the ingredients on the box and also posted at www.drugstore.com (also check out the reviews). Basis Sensitive Skin soap is available at Wal-Mart for $1.96 for a 4 ounce bar. Several times a year the company ...

US Personna Blades No Longer at Wal-Mart?

I didn't find US Personna double edge razor blades at my local Wal-Mart tonight. There was no hook for any product and no product and the sales gal noted that she hasn't seen them in a while. Any one else notice they are no longer in stock?

I use boar hair shaving brushes - either a Proraso or Burma-Shave. Wet the brush well and give it one or two shakes to dump most of the excess water. Place the soap bar in a small bowl and work the brush vigorously around and up and down on the soap adding very small amounts of water if needed. Expe...

Tom's of Maine is an all natural product that shaves pretty well. The Calendula is my favorite but I also use and like the Mint when I feel like a little tingle. Tabac Shave Stick – A Convenient Comparison Standard Lather

Recently, a German friend of mine was kind enough to present me with an extra 3.5 ounce Tabac Shave Stick that relatives of his brought from Germany. The classic lather this soap produces with ease face lathering a small amount of soap yields a startlingly superb, consistent, smooth-as-glass close, ...
