Re: Tenderizing pheasant

Brian,
Thanks for the advice. I don't mind the long time required. I'll give it a try. We have the perfect large old cast iron skillet.
Regards.

Tenderizing pheasant

A friend who hunts gave me about 3-4 pounds of pheasant. The last time I cooked pheasant in a stew it was too tough. (I know it's game; I don't expect it to be soft like commercially bought chicken). Does anyone have any tenderizing tricks? Either specific tenderizing tips or recipes with the same r...

Re: Email from D.R. Harris re: new sandalwood soap and cream

Didn't Harris make Green Pond Sandalwood shave cream? That was AMAZING stuff!!! I think it was discontinued about 4 years ago. If its the same shave cream, count me in! =D> They did as far as I know since I did get a couple of tubs way back. One of the better Sandalwood scents in my opinion, and ex...

FS: Super Iridium Blades (Original)-SOLD

138 Super Iridium blades purchased in 2009 (130 NIB, 8 in opened box). I am using milder blades now; these are too sharp for me. I thought I would give them a try after laying off of them for a while and tried a couple more, hence the open box with eight remaining. These are the original Iridiums be...

Re: Visiting New Orleans

My visit to Bourbon French Perfums was fun.The store is in an old building in the historic French Quarter. There were displays of old glassware related to making and using perfumes and the workshop in back was open to view. Although geared towards women, they had a large men's display in the center ...

I emailed Charles from QEDUSA. He plans to stock it but no time until it arrives mentioned.

Email from D.R. Harris re: new sandalwood soap and cream

Actually, they announced a new "sandalwood line" that includes shave soap and cream, bath soap, and AS milk. Does anyone know any more about this? The obvious question, is the soap tallow based? http://us2.campaign-archive2.com/?u=061a9114d5e10f37332519f87&id=ad5c8c6d3f&e=aceca6a68d

Re: Visiting New Orleans

Thanks gents. Bourbon French Parfums looks interesting for after shaves and colognes, and of course a gift for my wife (better not forget). I agree with Squire re: Aiden Gill. From their website and reviews I think I'll pass (the prices and men's toiletries named "Spit Shine" are not my st...

I am going to New Orleans on business. Are there any shops that would be fun for wet shavers to visit?

WTB: handle for Gillette Godwill razor

A Goodwill razor with all the teeth intact but with a cracked handle came with a box of other vintage razors I found in an antique shop. Does anyone have a handle, perhaps from a razor with a damaged head, that they are willing to sell?
Thanks.

Re: Vintage MOOS

It is, was, an excellent tallow-based soap. I believe it was made by the makers of Tabac. I have one open and one in stash. A joy to use. I will miss it when it's used up.

Actually my son is smarter than me, has a higher IQ anyway, a fact which he can work into a sentence surprisingly often.

Re: A nice phone call from my son

Dave, that was indeed a nice phone call. I'm of the impression that your son would adopt a brush and soap/cream when it interests him and when it's his idea . Johnny, your 25-year-old son sounds a bit precocious to me. Most adults I know don't come to that conclusion until much later. :? - Murray T...

While discussing wetting the beard, whisker direction, and using minimal pressure as he wipes on the blue gel, I will be quietly and subtly loading a shave brush then lathering my face with no mention of brushes or lather. We will proceed to the shaving instruction. Like Squire said, "Set the h...

I have a tube as well (from an Indian grocery, too) and a tube of the Old Spice Musk. Great scents and very good shave cream. They are getting harder to find though.
