Although they're hardly inexpensive ( but still considerably less pricey than Creed ), if you like old school traditional gentlemen's scents, the old original Penhaligon's colognes ( of which there are four ), Trumpers, Floris No 89, and a couple of others, and the Santa Maria Novella line are plac...

Iquitos by Alain Delon is my favourite rose inspired scent.

Love it or hate it, it is one of the most unique fragrances I have ever come across. I think highly of it...

It is now discontinued but you should be able to still find a bottle.

Creed - Overrated

Sorry to be the contrarian... but I have no idea why Creed has such a cult following. It is way overrated and overpriced in my opinion. I find the majority of Creed men's line to be acceptable but certainly not the god-like juice that many describe it to be. I have tried GIT, BdP, MI, and Santal to ...

These qualities are what I searched for in a cologne.

You may want to try Michael Kors for Men. Big Cahones type fragrance.

Not appreciated by the metro-sexual oceanic scents that continue to be introduced.

I love it.

Sandalwood Creams

I have been thinking of buying another Sandalwood scented cream but only have C & E as my benchmark. Personally, I find C & E's Sandalwood to have a slight medicinal smell. Lately, this cream has been put further back on the rotation. I would be interested in any personal "rankings"...

I bought a couple of tubes in Safeway and so far its meets expectations.

I thought I was buying re-packaged Florena.

It has a lighter scent than Florena.

I received the vintage Noxema... Seller had 2 remaining tubes which I picked up as well. No deterioration at all. Great shave with fantastic lather. I like using this once common product. Peformance wise, Noxema is as good as any of the "niche" brands that fill my bathroom cabinets. I have...

Thanks Gordon.

In reading past posts regarding rumours of other brands' plans to discontinue products, it makes me wonder if this is a cheap way to sell a few more items before one leaves the store?

At any rate, I am stocked up on C & E for a couple years now.

We'll see what happens...

C & E - Discontinued?

I was in Victoria, BC today picking up some additional C & E shaving soaps. I mentioned to the clerk how much I enjoyed their shaving products. Her advice was to pick some up while it is still available. They were told by their corporate management that the plan is to no longer carry any of the ...

Great idea. I immediately went to the site to order a half dozen.

Just over $5 dollars for 6 X 8 oz. amber jars and $20 to ship. This is unfortunate. Especially when I live about 4 hours from their corporate office.

Does this seem accurate?

If this tube is in fact from the 70's, I would expect some deterioration. As I haven't used Noxema shaving cream (only the regular cream) before, I am interested to see how it performs compared to the "higher end" brands that we enjoy using. Maybe I should line up some Hai Karate too? :D RR

For the Noxema Fans...

Check out the vintage tube of Noxema that I picked up on EBay.

I remember my grandfather shaving with Noxema. Any idea of the vintage?

I sure hope it is useable...

I occasionally buy my Trumpers in Canada at Simple The Best in Victoria.

At $55 a pot it seems pricey... but when I really need another Coconut Oil shaving cream, this price is a small one.

Let the smell debate linger on...

What can I say? I have lurked for 2 years... I may as well get a few posts in. I am interested in comments on perceptions of the worst smelling cream/soap. It always amazes me to see the comments over different smells. For me, Poraso "red" is horrible. I imagine the underwear of a homeless...

De Vergulde Shaving Soap

As a regular "lurker" on the board, I have never jumped in with a post until today. Like many here, I have bathroom drawers full of shaving products and have a wife who thinks I need a new hobby. Given all the diffrent soaps that are reviewed and debated, I am surprised that De Vergulde Sh...
