Setting the bar kinda high with them Habonos huh? Not that I've ever had one to compare it to . It all depends how much you wanna spend. You can get great cheap ones, like the Oliva Gs, or Padron 1926 Anniversary or a Pepin JJ Maduro in the high end. Those are pretty much my favorite of the hi...

Then let me suggest you try Royal Copenhagen after shave! Oh God...I cannot stand the smell or Royal Copenhagen. There is a story behind it though. One evening some friends and I were doing a bit of celebrating at the house, and I had, well, a few too many. I ended up covering myself in Royal Copen...

Pardon my ignorance here as Im new to DE's as well. So whats all the talk about settings?. I would say my beard isnt fine, but not too tough either 1. What do "settings" do?, what are the advantages of settings?. 2. Do I need a razor with settings or a fixed blade razor?. I dont know what...

I'm going to have to go with Squire on this one. I don't know about the Futur, but with the Progress set on 1, there is so little exposure that I can barely shave with it. While that might say more about my beard than the razor, tuned all the way down, it seems rather gentle. I will agree, though, t...

I've never used the Futur, but let me tell you a little something about the Progress. It's amazing. My favorite razor. I've used Techs, Super Speeds, Gillette Adjustables, even a Weishi (started on it) and the Progress is my favorite. I would say to go with a Weishi, as it is, in mine and many other...

Second Time Through

I had a feeling this would happen. Now that my technique is getting better, I'm taking a second spin through the blade sampler that I recently finished working through (after almost a year). I'm finding that I'm getting better results from blades I had previously written off. It's going to be hard t...

I'm about a month or so older than the Iran-Contra affair. Well, the news break, not really the actual happenings.

Got power back Tuesday evening. Just got internet back today.

All is fine on my front. A lot of sticks to pick up in the yard, but everything else is great.

Yep. We did all the prep work yesterday. So my family and I have just been grilling steaks and relaxing all day today. We're far enough inland so that it won't be so bad. It's going to be fun, I always loved hurricanes. The awesomeness of it always amazed me. Ever since I went through Andrew when I ...

That is a beautiful razor you got there. I am in amazement at that condition, and it still had the packaging boxes, not just the case.

I'm jealous.

I love the Afta. I often bring it on trips because it's balmy and aftershavey at the same time.

My grandpa uses Afta, and it was the first aftershave I ever used. It's a great product.

If you haven't yet, pick up the Afta Clear for sensitive skin. It's another great one.

I'll be honest, at first, I loved it. But then the numbing effect from the cream started to annoy me.

Plus, the aftershave is a little greasy on me. The preshave facewash, however, I still use. It's pretty good.

The problem is though, is people look at you strike a Zippo and call you an asshole. really? here its.....hmm, i dont want to use the word classy... charismatically eccentric ? The old timers can get away with it, but when a young guy strikes a Zippo around where I live, he's looked upon as a stupi...

The Blazer Torch is my personal favorite when it comes to lighting a cigar. I've had many butane lighters over the years, and this is the only one that has never given me trouble. I did have a Colibri, but I had to pretty much send it back for service every month. Also, it seems that everyone has p...

I hope it was on cast iron -- another old-school item. (I bought a two-burner Lodge griddle for my gas range a couple of months ago and have been enjoying it quite a bit.) If there's one thing I know, it's that everything tastes best when cooked in momma's cast iron pot. Unless of course you cook i...

Thanks. I actually got it at an antique shop in Ellettsville, IN while visiting my brother in Bloomington. The lady tossed it in for free since I bought out her stock of DEs.
