Again, there is the ignorance of the average consumer. When I went to visit my fiance's family, their primary knife was so dull that I could grasp it firmly and pull it out without making a mark on my skin (I came to this point of sharpness-testing, gradually). I have no idea how they cut food with ...

I can't say anything about the Dorco blades as I've never used'em, but I'll second the rest. Giovanni is serious about every stage of product development and great to deal with. One specific thing about his soaps -- you won't find anything else on the market that produces a better lather.

Chris, thanks for the heads up. Out of curiosity, did you also get their lapping plate? They were so adamant on selling me one of those that it really broke the deal for me and I eventually ended up with a 12x3" homemade bench hone pasted with 0.5mic Cr2O3. Shapton 30k should have a particle si...

It's a synthetic. Builds up a decent lather but... I've noticed that some soaps that give me zero issues with badger, give me a major burning sensation when using that one. From now on, I'll only use it for conditioning old strops if the C&E boar brush doesn't do the job well. Edit: In any case ...

In general I get better shaves in every aspect if I let the lather sit on my face for 2 minutes or so. Stropping gives me something to do while I'm waiting. Norton isn't necessary for edge touchups. 5-10 stokes on a finishing hone or a pasted strop every 10 shaves or so should be more than enough. A...

The Feather couldn't spoil me. Even though it didn't leave me with any outright irritation, the feeling was still harsh. Real straights give you the best of both worlds -- a great pull-free shave and the classical aspect. The AC will shave a bit closer, but to me it doesn't compare physically nor sp...

I have to say that Mentólo will be worth the wait. It has an extra dose of menthol that really invigorates the face. I guess I know what I'll shave with in about 5-10min 8)

Tye, thanks a lot for trying. If it was not meant to get to my place it wasn't. As I already have tons of shaving products, maybe a newb here would be even more appreciative of your generous gesture. I'm sorry you had to go through the ringer. As for those razors, I'm clueless. My expertise mostly l...

Giovanni, you already have enough to drool over. Great selection of DE blades and don't even get me started on the soaps. By the way would a minty orange formula be in the works, by any chance?

I don't have any extra Techs left, but you may want to consider Paul's Feather Portables. They use the Tech design, but they're brand new. They may have more blade exposure, but I'm not sure as mine should be on its way this week. I can always do a comparison test when it arrives.

I could have had more but even what I have is too much. The only reason I recently bought one not for resale off e-bay was that it had some features (US-made, different grind) that none of my other razors have. I should really thin out my rotation, but too many of them have a sentimental value. Abou...

Other than the C&E stores in just about every mall in the GTA, there was a place in the Rathburn/Eglinton area that carried Proraso stuff, but I'm so oversaturated with various soaps and creams that it would have been too much. Other than buying 5 soaps from Colleen and getting 3 more and a colo...

When shipping straights to the US, I just mark "old razor" on the label to make it less attractive to the customs guys lol

If you can get it for the initial bidding price, it's reasonable, but... 1) A local antique store should carry one or two for $5 a pop 2) You can always find one for that price, so don't go crazy on the auction. I have one of those and bought 2 more for my buddies. One is enjoying his on the weekend...

Just be careful in the sensitive areas and mind the blade angle. Make sure you lather her up in sections, as you go along. Use the shortest blade you have and let's hope it's a wedge. In any case keep us posted.

I've seen a black plastic Shick that mimicked Tech's 3-piece design. The guy was asking $5 but I still didn't want to buy it. It was plain nasty.

2 straights (good performers but ugly and without sentimental value) and a shoe-string to hang my strop. If it has to be a DE, I'd take a Tech and just shave in the shower.
