Re: Both Simpsons and Kent advised me to...
I have almost always used paintbrush strokes for no particular reason. It is what I did when first starting traditional wetshaving, it worked, and so I had not reason to change. It stands to reason that both Simpsons and Kent know far more than most folks about shaving brushes. If they say that circ...

How does it compare to MWF? I'd be interested in trying a lanolin rich soap that was easier to lather than MWF. Can I ask where you bought it? I thought I had tried everything - guess not  . It's available at westcoastshaving.com. I been told Shavemac (the brush manufacturer) sells it too. Th...

I have been pretty scarce around here myself for much the same reasons as you. Perhaps that is the pinnacle of wetshaving - to find a razor/blade combination that works well and then just go and enjoy wetshaving. A minimum of fuss and effort. Like you, I use only one brush, but switched from the Mer...

When someone says a blade works well or poorly, what he really means is the razor + blade combination. A given blade can perform very differently depending on the razor in which it is used. You said that you can't find the perfect blade after trying quite a few, but also said that the New gives a qu...

I have had been with AAA for almost 40 years. They were great most times when I needed them, 20-30 years ago. The last two times they really let me down, though. Once when my transmission gave out, they did not arrive after 4 hours. I saw trucks from the towing service pass me many times, but none e...

There are two shaves that are the most memorable for me. The first was with a Gillette Trac II and Kiss My Face Cool Mint shaving cream. The second was with Kiss My Face, a Merkur 34C razor and a Derby blade. The former was the first baby bottom smooth shave I ever got while wetshaving, and an amazi...

Sean, another good starter razor is the Weishi - be sure not to get the lighter aluminum model. It will be shiny and new, and it comes in a neat little travel case. It is very mild, and the TTO style will have extra appeal for a young gadget-happy male. For a blade, I would recommend the Dorco ST30...

Re: Blasphemy!
 Not to worry, Buzz. Though I can't say I approve of the Merkur razor, any young man who fancies a Chubby 3 Manchurian as his brush of choice is certainly hard core in my book! - Murray At first I thought you were joking about the "Chubby 3 Manchurian". It was rather surprise to fi...

Re: Blasphemy!
Remington 3 head electric that I bought for my 17 yo son . Child abuse. Buzz What's wrong with the Remington? I have a quarter century old Remington Triple Foil 300, and it gives reasonably good shaves. Not as good as a safety razor with a good blade, badger brush and quality soap, but still an acc...

Re: One step closer to the shave-pocalypse!
Well gents, now for just a few hundred dollars anybody can get their own do-it-yourself at home "laser hair growth eliminator". The female talk shows are all excited. No more shaving for the girls. Watch out! Before we know it, they'll be marketing a black one just for the guys, I'm sure....
Re: update
Tried to use the atra trac 2 for the same amount of days i use a de ( about ten days) and it barely made it to day 6. With a de, i usually shave every other day. I used the cartridge every day, maybe because it wasn't giving me as close a shave? Also towards the end of the cartridge use, i noticed ...

Just wanted to say Hi P.s. can someone please explain why people use After shave. This may be a dumb question but what does it do? Does anyone know if the Tryphon soaps will still be available through Shoebox or are they history? I read that Gio will sell som...
