ead, DO NOT get a stainless steel straight razor as your first razor. I cannot put it more clearly than this. Oh I am guy who take cares of his "tools"
I have knifes and so on, and they all look like brand new, but I love "harder" steel that I won't need to sharp to often

Is it better to use a steel then carbon?

Carbon hones to finer edge and is easier to hone, but is more prone to rust and loses its edge quicker. Stainless is harder to hone, doesn't get quite as sharp, keeps that edge longer and is less prone to rust. Go with carbon steel until you have become an experienced honer. It really is all in the...

So I don't understand, is the Feather is good str8 razor for novice?
