The Bolzano is a good smooth blade but not in the class of feathers or swedes.

Sample the Gillette yellows as a potential replacement for the Swedes.

Do not be afraid of the slant. This was the first razor used as a newbie with no issues. Follow the wonderful advice throughout the message boards -- slow with light pressure. Blade angle is crucial depending on blade. IMO Gillette yellows are comparable to feathers. Derbys also work very well and a...

Generally able to achieve about a week of shaves.

Agreed the quality of shave improves after first shave.

IMO the Gillette yellows are better bang for the buck -- slightly smoother and almost as sharp.

The local C&E sales women told me the men's shaving line except for brushes are being discontinued due to poor sales

The soaps are 25 per cent off with plenty of stock.

Agreed. The Gillette yellows are comparable. Try the Italian Bolzano blades. Very sharp and smooth as well.

Bolzano Superinox Inossidabile

Received this Italian blade as a sampler. Loaded on to a slant. Used Em's pre shave oil and super lathered with L'Occitane and Musgo. The cutting sound is similar to the Feather. Very smooth and efficient shave. IMO a slight notch below the Gillette yellows but again maybe just as good. A great over...

Who needs Chinese? Tweezerman shipped from US (could be Chinese made, on second thought) anyway, $16. The chinese brush is silvertip badger. The tweezerman is still a goo deal though. Shall post a picture from another shaver. How well do the Chinese silvertip $20 brushes hold up over time with regu...

I'm still a newbie, but I have found the pre-shave oil to help when I haven't showered before shaving. If I shower I don't think I need it, if I just wash my face then it did help alittle. Agreed. Ems Place makes a great shave oil which works extremely well. On another forum a barber recommends Ame...
