WTT: De Vergulde Hand Extra Fresh Scent

I just got a tub of De Vergulde Hand extra fresh scent. Test lathered it once, and the scent is just not to my liking (a bit herbal). Love the regular scent. I'd like to trade it for something of equal value (new or used), such as: DVH shave stick or cream, Palmolive stick(s), La Toja stick, etc. Dave

Pocket Watch under $100

I had a Westclox Pocket Ben as a teen ('twas many years ago!) and want to get a basic pocket watch. Can I get one for under $100? I see that you can get a Pocket Ben on eBay for under $100, but I have no sense for the quality. What brands should I look at or avoid? I see Gotham on Amazon. Advice app...

Mmmmm, Palmolive, smells just like a laundry dryer sheet! I mean that in a good way because I do like the scent. Lather is very good to excellent for me. Can't use it too many days in a row though due to the glycerin content. Is it the same soap as Yardley? Not to me, but it's nearly as good in per...

Try La Toja soap. Same violet vibe, not as much moss as Grey Flannel, but definitely drifting in that general scent direction. I find the two similar, and La Toja's lather is pretty near to the top tier IMO. Agreed. I like the VDH scent (which VDH confirmed is a much toned down knock-off of Grey Fl...

WTB: Vulfix 2233 handle

My favorite handle shape is the Vulfix 2233. But my plan is to outfit that handle with a Golden Nib Grade A silvertip knot. That's the perfect travel brush for me.

So I'm looking to buy a used 2233, ideally one of the 2233 boar brushes (cheaper price new). Let me know!

WTT: Speick stick for other shave stick

I just got a Speick shave stick, which is a superb performer. But the scent just doesn't work for me, and I'm all about scent, so I'd like to trade it for another shave stick of equal value (used or new). I've used the stick three or four times, but it hardly shows it. My preferences are: 1) de Verg...

I just ordered a Palmolive shave stick and a Speick shave stick. I had 'em throw in a tub of de Vergulde Hand soap.

Several years ago, I had a Palmolive stick that I grated and pressed into a tub. The lather I got from it was frankly a bit gummy. I stopped using it and eventually tossed it. Looking back, it was probably my (lousy) technique. Maybe I should have used more water. I do recall liking the scent a lot....

Taylor creams are tops. I have Lemon & Lime and Almond and they both perform very well. For lime creams, I personally like Trumper Limes better than Taylor, mainly 'cause the scent is just wonderful, but you can't beat the price/performance of Taylor. I also have Taylor shaving soap, which is a ...

Just finished The Thirteen Problems, a collection Miss Marple mysteries by Agatha Christie. I'm now reading the Dangerous Animals Club, a memoir by character actor Stephen Tobolowsky. He's the guy who played Ned the insurance salesman in Groundhog Day. A very engaging story teller.

Thanks, guys. Really helpful input. I downloaded a recorder app for iPhone that has a few features, including skip back or forward 5 seconds and variable speed playback, but the v.s. playback drops the pitch when it drops the speed, so you get mud pretty quickly. Looks like an Olympus or Sony might ...

There is, but it's a little too basic, unless there's a fancier one available on iPhone.

Digital Voice Recorder Recommendations

I work in communications and part of my job is to write executive messages, speeches, etc. I have been using a mini tape recorder to capture across-the-table conversations, but really need to move up to a digital voice recorder. I'm currently contracting, so I need to buy this myself vs. requisition...

I don't do too much seasonal switching, but when it's cool in the morning, I am not in the mood for the menthol chill of Proraso. So soon I will be retiring it for the winter months.
