Re: BIC 1 Sensitive single blade disposables

I am all for whatever shaving device gives you a good shave. Many and various devices do it for me. And that includes the Bic Sensitive. In fact, I used the Bic as my razor of transition back to wet shaving from electric several years ago.

Re: In Praise of the Red Tip

I have a redtip from my birth year/quarter--B-2. Not sure what the significance is of having a razor that is the same age as me. I'm just trying to hold up as well as my red tip has for 58 years. Good razor by the way.

Whiskey Stones

Anyone ever used whiskey stones? Got some from my daughter & son-in-law for Christmas. They are one inch cubes of soapstone that you put in the freezer for a few hours then use them as an ice substitute. Cools your favorite spirits without watering down.

Re: What are you reading?

I had put Ackroyd I hold for a few weeks while I had my annual read of Winter Solstice. It's an annual read for my wife and I both. We love it. #-o I recently read that Dick Cavett is an advocate of re-reading. Says he: “We’d all have been better off to have read half as many books. Twice.” I think...

Re: Starbucks

Have tried a few Starbucks blends and they were all dark roasts. Starbucks knows how to sell coffee and they have come to the awareness that dark roasted beans are what their customers want. I roast my own beans in a popcorn popper and enjoy the process as well as the variety of roasts. Not a coffee...

FS: Yardley Set<<<SOLD>>>

Vintage Yardley gift set. Warranted by the Prince of Wales (1921-1936). This set has been in my closet for much too long and it's time to move it along. Soap is unopened and wrapped in cellophane. I accidentally cracked the cellophane when handling it and I immediately covered the crack with clear t...

Put me in the shave then shower camp as well. I've tried it both ways and really don't notice a difference.

I have a Push Button in very nice condition. I haven't shaved with it for awhile but I do recall that it was a very nice shaver. It's one of the more comfortable and easy to use Gems.

I'm a Grandfather

My daughter gave birth to my first grandchild last Tuesday. A granddaughter. My wife and I spent the day with the new arrival and her Mom & Dad yesterday and I held her for the first time. Becoming a grandparent is a wonderfully satisfying and deeply moving experience like nothing I have ever fe...

Re: You only get two razors; which & why

Schick adjustable injector
Gillette Slim (short black handle)

I chose these two razors because I need the flexibility of adjustment to accomodate the many different blades that I use, mainly vintage carbon and sometimes stainless. Also because they are both great shavers.

I like the Trac II. Still, I usually go for the DE. But when I use the Trac II I can't help but think I would be satisfied if it was my only razor.
