I had always been unimpressed with his method, then I read something about his "cutting forms" which he claims are right for every method shaver, by virtue of the fact that his prep routine is so good, it renders "grain" an irrelevant concept. To me, this put him in the realms of...

Assuming 1 blade a week, these new blades would cost me one hundred and forty one pounds year. it makes the 40 or so pounds I spent on my first open razor seem very reasonable, even with strop and hone, I think it totalled less than £140. It has been so long since I used caned foam, I can't even rem...

Excellent review, though I too, have some misgivings about the shape of the crown on that brush. I wonder how many of the more obscure models got phased out with the takeover? Presumably, when each handle was hand turned, it was simple to keep a wide production catalogue at the ready, but I am not c...

Well, both the Floris, and the Trumpers bowls cost eight pounds more than the refills, but there is a ten pound difference between them to start with. For what it's worth, the Floris bowl is pretty, but the domed lid prevents stacking, which I find belabours my storage space. To be honest, I doubt I...

Edt is mean't to be an applied fragrance, so you smell of lavender all day long, aftershave, normally a splash, is to treat your skin after shaving. I am not sure you have it right about the strengths either. I was lead to believe, that perfume extract is the strongest ( in terms of most smell compo...

I concur about the ease of lathering, it seems to take no time at all, before I am buried beneath a mound of perfect shaving lather.

Just an FYI, the dark Harris bowls are mahogany effect, not the real thing. The new Floris bowls are lovely as well, just too bad about the rubbish sometimes contained there-in (Me? Bitter? No, not all!). I think my favourite is the T&H, the lines carved in the side do it for me, if only they di...

I may be alone in this, but I don't like the Harris beech bowls. I do not like the one light spot standing out from the collection of deep brown bowls nestling in my cupboard. Having said that, paying an extra pound for the stain they use makes me wince every time.

Very brave of you, I do not look forward to the day when I must streamline myself, but I know it must come eventually. Most men I know who are bald shave it in the shower at least once a week, you can use a headblade, which I imagine would be easier to use than a DE, especially as the head is not su...

Would that keep the scent as it is when new, or is the damage alrea...

You use the whisk to whip a lather, according to Floris anyway. I really can't see a use for it other than as a curiosity, there are more practical ways apply soap.
