Then I hand strop the blade before putting it into the razor I will use the next day. That is a neat little trick. Since I started using it I find that my blades last a lot longer. You need to thank D.Irving79 for the hand stropping idea. He originated it or should I say showed us how it is done. I...

After a shave I leave mine in the razor, swish the head for a few seconds in alcohol and then stick it back in the rack.

Got to be an Ogilvy & Mather ad, I reckon.

I have a couple of ten-packs of Gillette Platinums, which claim to be made in France. The packaging is in French, and they look like NOS. Scored them cheap on the 'Bay. A little searching around the forums suggests that despite the nomenclature and packaging, these are not the same as the erroneousl...

Tough choice, as I don't really rate the Personnas. But I wouldn't go back to cartridges.

Agree with Squire on this. Anyone who likes the Swedes should stock up. Those who have a buy-as-needed strategy are flirting with heartbreak. Just ordered Christmas present to self: 200 of. I'm currently on a DE journey of discovery, but I've found nothing remotely as sharp or comfortable as the so...

Re: first DE razor

Saturday moring was my first shave. To be totally honest, I was pretty dissapointed. So was I. Stick with it. It's worth it. Watch mantic59's videos on YouTube and invest in a copy of Leisure Guy's book Guide to Gourmet Shaving . And ask lots of questions here. With patience and practice, you'll qu...

Haven't tried the Treet. Sold under the Wilkinson Sword brand in the UK and elsewhere. Pretty good for the price, I reckon. There is metal in the handle which gives it a greater feeling of solidity than the rest of its plastic construction would suggest. I started off with one, as I suspect most ne...

Looking at the Shick Krona, it seems very similar to the Feather Popular, which is still in production, although I've no experience of shaving with a Krona to offer a direct comparison. The Popular is cheap and widely available though, and a good first DE razor, IMO.

even when they are new and shaving good these multi blade razors are still a hassle they clog up with hair and soap... I always got good shaves with M3s, but amen to all that. The clogging between blades is one of the biggest problems with multi-blade cartridges, and none of the manufacturers have ...

1 x pass with M3 yields a closer shave than 1 x pass with any DE, in my experience. However, the trade off in comfort isn't worth it, and as others have observed above, it's a different story with a second pass.

I was travelling last week and used my new Feather Portable razor for the first time with some trepidation, as I only had the much-afeared Feather blades that shipped with it. But I took my time and the result was excellent. I have since used the same Feather blade in both my Merkur Progress and HD ...

I rated these pretty poorly the first time I tried them, but looking back that can only have been my rookie technique. I shaved with one today and got one of my best Treet shaves to date out of one. I've always considered Trigs to be my favourite of the Treets, but these are smoother and sharper. Hi...
