Re: Tabac After Shave and Eau De Toilette
Previously I was brainwashed and crying foul: "Stop the world --- Nothing's better than a shaving soap with tallow regardless of the brand". Translation: Several of the tallow-driven soap-makers were forced to toss the tallow and mix up something mediocre and weak, and several more just th...

I haven't tried their Sandlewood but there's a couple of shops here that carry some CM stuff. They never had the Ros so I got lucky when the CM website eventually had it in stock. I'll make a point of checking locally to see what's on the shelf.

Dominico Caraceni 1913 cream made in Italy about 10 or 15 years ago. Fragrance is intoxicating and performance is unique and better than everything else due to the ingredients, resulting in an exorbitant price. Had to smuggle it past Mrs. brothers.

Wasn't supposed to shave until Wednesday as scheduled but I jumped the gun and enjoyed a remarkable brushless shave this morning with Caswell Massey ROS (rose) shaving cream. This is an outstanding product with or without a fragrance. The Rose is delightful. Top shelf as appropriate for the cream.

Re: Is SMF losing its vigour?
It's refreshing to be able to participate as a regular poster here at SMF. Regarding the absence of posting here, in my case, there was a substantial issue that dominated my full-time personal professional legal attention involving a 98-year-old disabled widow and various state and federal agencies....

Ahhhh! It's good to be back in the saddle again.
This morning was courtesy of Tabac (the old original).
When this stick's gone in a year or two, it's gone, but I'll enjoy it in the meantime.

Re: Is SMF losing its vigour?
Why would someone pay thousands of dollars over the months and years and never bother to post in his own operation. Hundreds of guys have followed his very glaring example and quit posting. The truth is that he is NOT paying for "us". He is paying for something, but clearly not for any of ...

Women's 2023 World Cup
Quarterfinals. I just watched Australia v. France. 120 minutes of zero to zero. It took a double overtime kick to decide the winner. You can look it up. Now I'm watching Columbia v. England. These women are incredible. I hope some among our SMF number are also interested, even if they may not bother...

Klinker, your amazing collection of beautiful shaving tools is impressive! Thank you for sharing them with us on a regular basis. I do have a personal question for you - when it comes down to the daily shave, do you have your own personal favorites (based on performance) that you enjoy using and loo...

I haven't mentioned it lately, but I'm still using Superior 70 Mentolado aftershave splash exclusively. 350 ml - 11.8 oz, made in Puerto Rico. Re: Straight razor vs DE razor...
I've recently reached the inevitable age when the old worn out muscles and bones just don't work like they used to. While I love my straight razors, I don't love the tedious process of maintaining the edge. Example: endless hours of honing (straights) vs. the absolute zero - 0 - time spent on safety...

Friday marks my final of the week. Today's soap of choice - Fine's Vetiver. My only pre-discontinued dinosar soap from that seller. The only one of the Fine line that got banished a couple of years ago. Who cares! Their business, not mine! My money, not theirs!$$$.

If that's the way they're still doing it, then it's truly hand-made, and truly worthy of the high degree of respect that deserves.

Re: Simpson Brushes History
When they say "hand made" are we to understand someone picked up a block of faux ivory and used hand tools to give it a uniform size and shape, or does it mean they pick up a ready-made-to-order handle and mount a ready-made brush head into the outsourced handle? Or, alternatively, does th...
