Re: Badger Silvertip Knot Expansion

Now get yourself a Stirling synthetic for $20 and save your badger(and badgers) for a once a week luxury. I pull out my naturals less and less. They are a fun diversion, but the soaking and drying just add to the effort. The synth is dip and go and for me lathers as good as my best natural. Just di...

Re: Currency Taking a Pounding

really wont have any impact on purchasing things. Retailers aren't going to reduce the price of something they bought last week, and take any kind of loss on it just because the current daily exchange rate changes. Love the idea though, but it wont impact anything. Actually it will make a differenc...

Currency Taking a Pounding

Any of you Americans planning a big-ticket purchase from Great Britain ought to keep an eye on the currency markets. The GBP is below US$1.40 this morning and who knows when the drop will turn around!

Do you value comfort over cost and style? Hanro or Sunspel...both found on line. Friends of mine also swear by Zimmerli, but I have never tried them.

A Trip to Colonial Drug

I stopped by Colonial Drug...late of Harvard Square, now in Newton, MA...last night to do some holiday shopping. They shelves now climb to the pressed tin ceiling and the array of goods is just fantastic. They had many marvelous items and those wet shavers who can really should visit the shop. Sever...

I must demure, Sam. You may very well be right, but I detect a run-of-the-mill, off-the-shelf troll who is frustrated because he couldn't get anything started here.

I'll stop posting from this point on but reserve my right to continue reading Good day gentlemen. One quivers with excitement at the mere thought of your lurking. I will miss having you around, though. You like most trolls show a highly evolved sense of self worth and a hilarious lack of wit. Buzz

Re: I want to get my razor replated. Where do you guys sugge

Do an internet search for your area and plating. I doubt if there is a community of ten thousand or more souls that does not have a plating shop. It isn't very expensive and doesn't take very long. Support your local tradesmen and women...someday soon they may be gone.

I must demure. For some few of us one and only one brush is sufficient and immensely satisfying.

Re: Optimum lighting?

Depends entirely upon your optimization function. I don't mean to be flippant...well, yes I do...but we each have different tastes in light; intensity, color temperature, angle, tungsten v. hallogen v LED. One cannot generalize from any individuals preferences but one's own.

Re: A brush conundrum

because there is no real set standard of softness of backbone in badger brushes,,,, its kinda hard for most people to know what the actual thing is supposed to be like. I spent some time trying to figure out badger hair grading, and the best I could come up with is each grade represents the locatio...

Re: A brush conundrum

All of the above is quite true and one should expect a manufacturer to stand behind his or her product and act with integrity. That said, we must recognize that the grading and nomenclature for badger hair is totally unregulated and there are no generally accepted standards for what is silver tip, h...

Re: Recommended brush drying time

I'm with Squire and Buzz. I've used brushes for years on end, daily, with no problem. When done shaving I rinse my brush thoroughly and shake it out in the shower until I hear nothing splatting against the wall. I then quickly run the bristles over a hand towel and stand it up on my dresser to dry ...
