I saw a couple razors touted as gold fatboys but the prices were over $100.00 - don't remember the seller - sorry.

... I hope you had a good time on your visit with good memories. We always do and try to get over once every 2 to 4 years to see my wife's family in the Manchester/Bury area. Rose & Co also have a shop in the Victorian section of Leeds. Never been to it, but I hear it's a nice locale as well. C...

jww, just to add to the "steer clear of this seller" you should be sure to check shipping costs. The shipping costs on that fat boy adjustable were $16! Dave Thanks Dave - I saw that after closer scrutnization. I also have found a number of defaming posts on the wet shaving group about hi...

There are plenty of good badger hair brushes available - and you don't have to spend a ton of $$ either. The MenEssentials Mystery Brush is a good case in poin as is the Crabtree & Evelyn product. I have had the CT&E brush in my hand & it's really quite good. I received a good quality ba...

John, I agree, we are really lucky in England to be able to buy better products quite easily. But Body Shop shaving cream is quite a slick cream for the modern gillettes etc., that puts to shame all the canned products. I actually think it works better with the mass market razors than the three T's...

I think that being a newbie, I'd like the extra protection of an adjustable as I learn the DE trade. Would love to find a Gillette 195 fatboy, but they aren't too plentiful. RedDragon at ebay has this one available right now: http://cgi.ebay.ca/Gillette-Adjustable-Double-Edge-Razor-Xtra-Lng-Blk-Hnd_...

Thanks for steering me from this seller. I have done lots of ebay and it's helpful to know if a seller is less-than reputable.

I am probably leaning more towards a new razor anyway - even though I prefer a vintage if I could find one that I really liked.

I have been using the Body Shop Shaving Cream from the tub for some time now. Initially, I used to buy the tube and dispense it into an egg-coddler, which made an OK substitute for a shaving mug. I changed to the tub as it is much more cost effective than the tube. BTW Hawkish - think of curling as ...

Newbie: Advice/Suggestions on New DE Razor

Hello all - my first post to the forum. I have sensitive skin, and already use good quality shaving soap and a badger hair brush. My current razor is a Schick Protector (which doesn't do too good a job at protecting my neck even with multiple passes with lather, etc.) I am going to get a DE razor an...
