Re: Review of the "new" Mitchell's Woolfat

I'm still clinging to the hope that jww might provide us with a few words regarding all of this MWF intel. I suspect Wendall isn't buying the new product every time they change it again, but I also suspect he's just a bit curious!

Re: Cats

Nothing wrong with cats! In our house we currently have only one little animal friend at the moment, an 8 month old kitty cat named Cocoa.
Over the decades we've had multiple dog and/or cat friends at random times due to the kids. We love 'em all. (Kids and animals :D )

Every time the Asylum Levante soap comes up in the rotation, I'm finding that it's one of the most dependable soaps I've had the honor of using.

Re: Green tea

Hi Jim, it's good to see you here. :D My story is similar. For example, I love the dark chocolate any way I can get it, and I enjoy my daily large green tea. On the other hand, after reading the health benefits from Apple Cider vinegar, I picked up a big bottle of it at the grocery store a couple of...

SOTD February 26 - March 3, 2024

The best thing about waking up on Monday morning is the invigorating hot shower followed by the shave. At my house today the cream was Taylor's Cedarwood applied by the SilkSmoke synth brush. This was the 3-day whisker growth. Followed up by the sparkling splash of Superior 70 after shave.

Re: SOTD: February 12 - February 18, 2024

This morning's soap of the day turned out to be surprisingly good. --- Fine's Green Vetiver --- the badger brush made a memorable lather. This is the only vetiver fragrance that I can tolerate. Of course, this fragrance of Fine's shaving soap has been discontinued for 4 or 5 years now.

Simple Poem to make me smile

Nothing philosophical, just some animals having fun and what happens when I clean up the kitchen ---

Hey diddle diddle
The cat and the fiddle
The cow jumped over the moon
The little dog laughed to see such sport
And the dish ran away with the spoon

Re: Review of the "new" Mitchell's Woolfat

Before I posted about it yesterday, I also read the positive comments. I was slightly alarmed when the author enthusiastically wrote the last sentence that declared the new stuff is 10 (Ten???) times better than the old stuff. Really!!! Of course that was what prompted me to ask for other revi...

Review of the "new" Mitchell's Woolfat

I've been hoping Wendell (jww) would give us a rundown of his take of the recently reformulated Mitchell's, which has earned him the SMF moniker "Woolfat Evangelist"! Considering he's not checked in for about a year now, maybe he'll give us an update on his favorite soap. More importantly,...

Murray, these Monday's just keep a'comin' don't they? :D Monday Morning was a good opportunity for me to re-evaluate my brush rotation, considering the somewhat used-up Zenith boar brush. It turned out that my treasured Rooney Finest is the long-overdue permanent replacement/upgrade to a world-class...

SOTD January 29 - February 4, 2024

This morning's Joris soap did OK with the Zenith boar brush, but I should have remembered to reserve the boar brush for the shaving creams. It does much better with creams. It's been a good brush, but every time I use it, there are several detached hairs. That's normal, considering how long it's bee...

SOTD January 22 - January 28, 2024

On a cold gray winter Monday morning I needed a warm comfortable shave, and that's what happened when I used the Fine Snake Bite soap with the SilkSmoke synthetic brush. The lather was voluminous and tight. Yes, warm lather but a cooling soap, but that's OK. I hope everyone enjoys this morning's sha...

Re: Straight razor vs DE razor...

Thanks for the obvious effort it must have taken you to find it and post it. I have read it and I agree with it (except one comment  ). . . . straight razors win over safety razors in terms of their durability, quality and class. Probably shouldn't have included that statement. That's on the a...

Re: Straight razor vs DE razor...

I'll be looking forward to the article. I need to clarify my earlier post below. I'm only saying it's the labor and time spent creating and maintaining the edge that gets very boring and annoying. When it comes to taking up the beautifully sharp straight razor and shaving, there's nothing more fulfi...
