4711 turns up periodically in TK MAXX - very inexpensive, and there's usually a tester bottle to have a sniff of. I had a wee sample of it - wish liked it more, the history and mystique of its quite appealing.celar36 wrote:Somebody used? Any opinions about smell?

My evidence is based on the fact that I speak to dozens of shavers every week (being in the business). A lot of my customers have tried a DE razor and still use (or prefer) a cartridge. Believe me, I have nothing to gain by presenting this fact because I make money selling DE razors and blades... I...

I know lot of people that have used both DEs and Cartridge razors and prefer a cartridge razor. My Father inlaw (an ex-Italian barber) knows how to use a straight razor better than anyone else I know... the night before my wedding he gave me the best shave of my life with a straight, but he only us...

Muhle R41 (2009) Semogue Owners Club Boar Razorock Mughetto di Bologne Brush has about 5-6 latherings on it, and isn't properly broken in yet. In a couple of weeks I expect this brush to be superb - it already is actually, but if the tips soften up a bit more it will become my standard noob recommen...

Wednesday Muhle R41 Thater TOBS Mr. Taylor cream Nivea 'Replenishing' balm* *smells very funky and is a bit drying. The Nivea 'Sensitive' balm is much nicer. The Mr Taylor cream continues to provide very nice, predicable lather, but is almost gone. Will be replaced by a rotation of partially used tu...

Have not had one in like 10 years as all the barbers in my neck of WPa have quit doing shaves. Has to deal with sanitary rules set forth by the state. I looked into this a while back. Really the rules re. sanitation are similar to how they ever were. IMO the real reason is less men were asking for ...

Muhle R41 (2009) Gillette 7 O'Clock Semogue Owners Club* TOBS Mr Taylors cream Brut 'eau de brut' *First use, seems really promising - the densest boar I've used and I'm optimistic about it joining my badger-only rotation. The build quality (couple of dings in the handle notwithstanding - suppose th...

Not sure about patchouli but Tabac is a strong spicy cologne scent that loses its potency dramatically after a few uses and a bit of airing out. Smell a new puck in store and you'll likely have a strong negative reaction and miss out on a great soap. At £3.99 for a 100 gramme refill stick its a wee ...

My favourites are Speick, Arko, Tabac (chunky 100 gramme stick, maybe less ideal for travel) and Wilkinson Sword. Most are 50 grammes and will take up about the same amount of space - just pick your favourite. If you can get along with the Palmolive scent (I can't) it's the best choice for you; good...
