Re: Latest Taylor's shaving cream scents Lime Zest and Tobacco

Lime Zest seems nice. Finally a new (hopefully) traditional scented cream. EDIT: After reading the description on Taylor's website I don't think the cream will be traditional scented, seems to have more stuff going on than just lime. "An uplifting fragrance of fresh Lime and Orange complimented...

DR Harris Rose & English Bouquet

Has anyone on here tried these two ones? They were both still available for purchase just a couple of years ago. It's such a shame that Harris opted to discontinue both of them, as well alongside their Florimel and Eau de Quinine hairdressings. I have the Florimelle hairdressing from Penhaligon's, w...

Re: SOTD June 22 - June 29

That looks great - congratulations! I never smelled the 'old stuff' and did not know it had been changed. The stuff I have, bought around ten years ago at a guess, is exactly the drydown of Eau de Quinine. In fact, I'm sure that to make EdQ, they just add a few drops of quinine to a bottle of Milk ...

Funnily enough actually, because very recently I got very lucky when I through sheer luck stumbled ac...

Yardley Original Shaving Soap

Vintage Yardley soap containing tallow. Hard to get by these days and appreciated by many! I have only used it once, maybe 3 months ago and before that the soap was NOS and still was sealed with plastic. Unfortunately the scent has weakened over the years but I am a smoker with a pretty bad sense of...

Re: Broken Razor Rockwell 6c

Your threads are stripped. Yes, thanks. That's probably the problem -- are there anyone on here that have a solution to this problem? As I said before, I would not say that I have mishandled the razor, in anyway, at all, I have some nearly 100 year old razors that still works fine, so a razor at th...

Re: Broken Razor Rockwell 6c

"Hinges" was a bad explanation. The razor simply doesn't screw on properly and the head becomes loose.

Broken Razor Rockwell 6c

I bought (I got it as a Christmas gift) mine Rockwell Razor 6c for 1 and a half year ago and it's already broken, the hinges have stopped working and when I try to put it together the head is loose.... I haven't mistreated it at all and I think a razor in that price point should have a longer life s...

Re: Vintage Hammam - first impression

I don't know if anyone here is as interested in old bottles from the British perfume/shaving firms as I am but here are some more pictures of two old and very rare bottles from Penhaligon's that I recently bought, one beautiful crystal bottle called "Royal Violet" and a classic apothecary ...

Re: Acquisitions thread

My first purchase of the decade: an extremely rare 200ml bottle of vintage Penhaligon's Florimelle Hair Dressing, probably dating from the 80s.

Re: WTB: Empty Wooden Floris Shave Bowl

You're right, the bowl on the left would be the preferably one for me and I also believe that Floris's soaps still comes in in bowls with that shape. In worst case scenario, I would purchase a brand new Floris 89 soap in a bowl and just swap out the new soap and put in the the old tallow cake instea...
